◾️ JEFF FOREMAN’S COMEBACK STORY ◾️
⠀
@jeff.foreman14 dislocated his left knee and tore nearly everything around it ACL, PCL, LCL, the top of his calf, and his hamstring straight off the bone.
⠀
It wasn’t just one injury. It was a multi-ligament trauma that required complex surgery and an even more complex recovery process.
⠀
Jeff’s physical pain was one thing. But mentally, he was in a dark place. He couldn’t walk. He couldn’t run. The doubt set in.
⠀
But he never let go of his faith in God and he had an incredible support system reminding him he wasn't alone.
⠀
Some people didn’t believe he’d make a comeback.
⠀
But he did.
⠀
With the help of the team at Project WellBeing and Dr. Tanner Mueller, our in-house sports physical therapist, Jeff started rebuilding rep by rep, day by day.
⠀
Now, he feels strong again. Capable again. Himself again.

◾️ RETURN TO PEAK PERFORMANCE ◾️

When injuries happen, the goal is not just recovery.
The goal is returning stronger.

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jamahal “Sweet Dreams” Hill came to Project Wellbeing while managing knee and Achilles injuries.
His program combines physical therapy with targeted performance training.
Strength is rebuilt across the entire system, not just the injured area.
The result is a stronger foundation for high level competition.

This is why Project Wellbeing is an ecosystem, you’re not piecing together care from five places, you’re building a routine that compounds.
Integrated rehabilitation and training is how we optimize human performance.

Link in Bio to Book a Tour or Health Discovery and train with a complete performance system.

A look into some of our NHL offseason ACL rehab w/ @danyamiro 🏒

ACL rehab doesn’t stop when strength comes back. In many ways, that’s when the real work begins.

For an athlete returning to professional sport, the end goal is restoring the ability to produce force, absorb force, create power, react, change direction, and repeatedly tolerate the demands of competition.

The later stages of rehab should start looking less like traditional rehab and more like preparation for the sport.

The goal isn’t just to rebuild the knee.
It’s to rebuild the athlete and return to performance.

One of the hardest parts of rehabbing an injury is knowing where to start. You find an exercise online, try it, it hurts, and now you’re left in pain wondering what to do next.

The answer isn’t to just stop exercising altogether. You just need to find a better entry point to that movement.

My shoulder rehab tends to focus around 5 categories:
• External rotation / cuff strength
• Scaption, elevation & pressing
• Pulling / posterior shoulder strength
• Closed-chain stability
• Overhead dynamic stability

5 movements. 3 levels each. 15 different exercises depending on what your shoulder can tolerate.

If something is too provocative, don’t automatically abandon the movement. Modify the demand, build capacity, then progress it.

Find your starting point → build capacity → progress the demand.

Save this for your shoulder rehab and send it to someone who’s always complaining about their shoulder.

Feeling better and being ready to return to sport are two very different things.

Pain is important but the absence of pain doesn’t tell us whether an athlete has restored the strength, power, reactive ability, force absorption, or workload tolerance required by their sport.

And those deficits aren’t always obvious.

An athlete can feel normal.
Move well.
Practice without pain.
And still have meaningful deficits when you actually test them.

That’s why return to sport shouldn’t be based on symptoms alone.

The goal of rehab isn’t simply to make an athlete pain free. It’s to rebuild capacity, expose them to the demands of their sport, and use objective testing alongside the rest of the clinical picture to make better return-to-sport decisions.

Pain free is a milestone. Not the finish line.

Test. Don’t guess.

Send this to someone who got cleared and got hurt again.

Can you really create change in just a single session? ABSOLUTELY.

@kasperthejeweler has been dealing with this “locked up” shoulder for months without getting any real relief.

In this session, we used specific and targeted manual therapy to reduce symptoms, improve his movement, restore the range of motion he’s been missing, and create a PRIME window for loading.

The difference from beginning to the end of the session was immediate and significant but that doesn’t mean the shoulder is magically “fixed”. The goal of manual therapy is to simply create the window for change and then build on it.

Restore movement.
Build strength.
Increase capacity.
Progressively return to the demands he needs.

Send this to someone who’s always complaining about their shoulders and comment if you think you would benefit from this!

Do you keep pulling your hamstrings no matter how much you stretch?

Your hamstrings probably don’t need more flexibility. They need more capacity.

• Eccentric control
• Strength through full range
• Knee AND hip dominant strength
• Exposure to longer muscle lengths
• Rapid force absorption
• High speed loading

Your hamstrings need to be able to produce, control, and absorb force across different positions, loads, and speeds.

Don’t just stretch your hamstrings. Prepare them for what you’re asking them to do.

Save this for your next leg day and send it to someone who’s always pulling their hamstrings.

5 of the top Glute Max exercises based on EMG research and ranked by %MVIC.

What is %MVIC?
%MVIC stands for percentage of maximal voluntary isometric contraction. Basically researchers measure the electrical activity of the muscle during a max contraction, then compare the muscle activity during an exercise to that reference value.

So, an exercise measuring 80% MVIC produced muscle activity equal to roughly 80% of that individual’s measured maximal contraction.

But higher EMG does NOT automatically mean a better exercise or more muscle growth.

EMG measures muscle activation - not muscle growth, strength gains, or how well the exercise transfers to performance. Many other factors influence those results.

Takeaway: In the research these are 5 of top exercises for achieving maximal activation/contraction of the glute max.

Save this for your next workout and send this to someone who needs help building their glutes!

Rotation is one of the most important, yet undertrained, movement qualities we have.

Every sport lives in rotation. Throwing, punching, swinging, serving, cutting, and even the majority of daily tasks are all rotationally based. But when it comes to the gym, almost nobody trains it directly.

Poor rotation and poor control of it, could even be part of why your back or shoulder hurts. Simply being able to rotate isn’t enough either.

Restore and improve the mobility, control it, load it through a full range, and then move it fast.

Save this for your next training session and send it to someone who is super stiff

Ankle pain? Don’t just rest it. REBUILD it.

Rest may take the pain away but it doesn’t give you back the ankle you had. It doesn’t restore the motion you lost, your ability to produce force, or prepare you to return to the demands of running or jumping. Frequent ankle rollers 👀 I’m talking to you!

Mobilize → Load → Strengthen → Perform

Save this progression for the next time you need it and send it to someone who’s always complaining about their ankles.

Your hips aren’t tight. You just have no active control over them.

If your hips feel tight no matter how much you stretch them, more passive stretching probably isn’t what they need. That’s why it feels good in the moment then everything is “tight” again in an hour.

You don’t need more range. You need to own the range you’ve got.

5 go-to no-equipment hip mobility drills. Try 2 rounds of 5-8 slow and controlled reps per side before your next workout.

Send this to someone who’s been stretching their hips for a year with nothing to show for it.

Rebuilding the quad after an injury is much more than just getting stronger or throwing random exercises at it.

It’s about restoring the ability to recruit the quad, produce force, control the knee, and progressively tolerate greater loads and demands.

That process can look very different depending on the athlete and where they are in rehab, but these are a few of my favorite ways to attack it in the earlier phases.

The Neubie from @neufitrfp is a great addition to help improve neuromuscular control and drive while giving the athlete more feedback while they actively contract and load the quad. This is HUGE especially when there is inhibition limiting their ability to fully access the quad

BFR from @smarttoolsusa gives us another way to challenge the quad and build strength/capacity while using lower external loads.

Recruit it. Load it. Build it
