🕷️ Embossed creepy crawlers! 🪲

Stop by this Saturday, October 17 from 9am to 12pm. Learn the art of embossing on metal and add color to create any creature you can imagine! We'll have pre-made templates of creepy crawlers (drawn by ACC resident artist, @gracenetanya ) and blank templates to create your own design. We are showcasing our Woodsmoor Craft Fellows currently in the Hilltop Gallery at the Appalachian Center for Craft, through November 13.

The purpose of the Woodsmoor Craft Fellowship is to encourage and celebrate the sustained dedication of these students to their craft and preserve the legacy of the Appalachian Center for Craft as a major learning source and home for craft in Tennessee. The Woodsmoor Craft Fellowship recognizes these craft students as part of this esteemed group, and honors and carries their identity as an Appalachian Center for Craft Woodsmoor Craft Fellow beyond their time on campus. In partnership with Woodsmoor, we celebrate and honor the talent and potential of these students, who are committed to their craft.

Our October Artist of the Month is Hannah Cheng! Hannah exhibited recently at the Appalachian Center for Craft as a part of the Chrysler Museum of Art group glass exhibition - Process, Pattern, Identity: the Glass Experience. We are excited to now also feature her work in our gallery store.

Originally from California, Hannah Cheng is a glass and ceramic artist currently based out of Norfolk, VA. Collecting trash for its color and texture, Cheng is fascinated with the little moments in life that are often overlooked. Color and contrast are integral to her work as she explores themes of nostalgia and introspection. Cheng began as a traditional painter and 2D illustrator, whose explorations shifted to ceramics and small metals in 2022, and later, glass in 2024. Currently, Cheng enjoys hot sculpting, experimental techniques, and problem solving while working with hot glass.

On Fridays we Field Trip! 🤘🏼
Today we’re working with students from Stone Memorial High School in our clay and wood studios! Each field trip includes a campus tour and a three hour workshop led by Craft Center resident artists and BFA students.
