Every young person has something inside them worthy of being shared with the world.

As @denellaclark recently reminded me:
“Talent is evenly distributed, but opportunity is not.”
That’s why arts education isn't a luxury, it's essential.

In my recent conversation with Denella J. Clark President and CEO of the @foundationbaa we discussed how access to the arts gives young people the tools to express their unique voice.

It helps them find their community, recognize their potential, and imagine a future beyond the limits others place on them.

Opportunity isn’t just about opening a door. It’s about helping young people see who they can become.

What role did the arts or a creative outlet play in shaping your path?

“ The best antidote to feeling stuck, lonely, in a downward spiral is to take action…I would either do one thing to help somebody else, or I would do one thing to ask for help.”

Courage isn’t a big leap. It’s a small practice.

I loved this week's conversation on Finding Your Inner Mister Rogers with @_scottsimon of @scareyoursoul, especially his reminder that courage is not about becoming fearless. It’s about getting comfortable at the edge of discomfort: the place where you’re not out of control, but you’re also not coasting. That’s where growth happens. Not in the grand gesture or in the adrenaline moment, in the everyday choices:
*The hard conversation
*The honest admission
*The ask for help
*The decision to speak up anyway

One idea from our conversation especially stayed with me: Scott’s practice of reflecting each night on five brave things he did that day. Not because every day is heroic. Because repetition changes identity. Eventually, you stop being someone who occasionally does courageous things. You become a courageous person.

*Consistency over intensity
*Service over spotlight
*Small acts of bravery, practiced often

Scott’s new book, The Book of Courage, written with @greg.stock was just released. It explores the power of meaningful questions and the conversations that help us become braver, more connected, and more honest.

"What you try to teach is compassion. Compassion is the ability to care for the other, but then protect yourself so you are allowed to stand back, do everything you can, and then step away, because you’re going to protect yourself so you can work another day and not burn out."

What if the most powerful leadership skill isn’t having all the answers, but learning how to listen?
Joining me this week on Finding Your Inner Mister Rogers is @jeffreywalker who spent decades at the top of global finance before discovering that lasting change requires something much deeper: inner work, radical curiosity, collaboration, and the courage to put ego aside.

Real leadership doesn't start in the boardroom. It begins with the ability to listen, grow alongside others, and serve without burning out in the process.

Maybe the ultimate flex isn't taking charge, it's staying calm enough to actually be useful. Watch full episode using one of the links below: https://open.spotify.com/show/033eXIbnrqXgMP0NCH6eKi?si=db013bd9647a479a

"I remind everyone: I work for you, you don't work for me. I'm here to make your life easier."
That's how Miguel Zaldivar views his role as the Global CEO of @hoganlovellscadwalader, one of the largest law firms in the world.

Miguel went from night classes @miamilawschool to leading thousands of lawyers across the globe, but what struck me most wasn't his resume, rather, it's proof that the strongest leader in the room can also be the kindest, and that exact combination is what builds a global legal powerhouse. In a hyper-competitive industry, he illustrates that kindness and high performance aren't mutually exclusive.

I am incredibly honored to feature Miguel as "The Global Architect" on this week's episode of Finding Your Inner Mister Rogers.

@jennifergfaber and I went to see The Great Elephant Migration Migration today on Comm Ave.

If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s a massive art installation of life-sized elephant sculptures right in the middle of the city.

Standing there looking at them, I stopped to read one of the signs:

“Life is not a pyramid with humans at the top. It is a living web, where every thread is connected to another. Tug one strand and the whole web responds. Strengthen one, and many others grow stronger.”

Over the last 4 months on Finding Your Inner Mr. Rogers, I’ve interviewed more than 30 leaders from all kinds of backgrounds. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from those conversations, it’s that real connection only happens when we actually slow down and pay attention to people.
Fred Rogers talked about that all the time.
But seeing those sculptures today was a great reminder that being a good neighbor doesn’t end with other humans. It’s about how we treat everything we share this planet with. by @toddfaber

The most scalable thing in hospitality was never the coffee.

This week I am joined by @jcrubinstein, Founder of @joecoffeecompany

I asked Jon about growing Joe Coffee from one storefront in Greenwich Village to 24 cafes. His answer wasn't about beans. It was about people. He said the first things they taught baristas was simple:
-Learn names
-Learn something about the person
-Make them feel like they belong

While that sounds small, over time, it became the whole business.
Because the real product wasn't just coffee, it was the feeling of walking into a place where someone sees you. Where the regular at the bar and the celebrity in the corner get the same warmth. Where hospitality isn't a department, it's the culture.

And maybe that's why Joe lasted. Not because it chased being the hottest thing, but rather it chose to be a place people could return to.

Worth thinking about.

25 years ago today, Fred Rogers signed off for the final time on PBS.

Long before I launched Finding Your Inner Mister Rogers, I taught my daughters what I call the “95% Rule”, that 95% of the people around us are quietly navigating realities and carrying deep, unseen burdens, and our primary job is to make our neighbors’ lives better every day. Fred Rogers understood that core truth better than anyone. He proved that leading with empathy, listening, and true kindness isn’t soft, it’s transformative.

Carrying that torch forward is the entire heart behind our non-commercial podcast, Finding Your Inner Mister Rogers. I am so grateful for the more than 60 incredible corporate, civic, and community leaders who have joined or will be joining the podcast to prove that Fred’s neighborhood is still very much alive and well. ❤️ by @toddfaber

On this episode of Finding Your Inner Mister Rogers, I had the honor of chatting with @carolecharnow, who is retiring this week after 16 years leading @bostonchildrensmuseum

In reflecting on our conversation, I keep coming back to one of the clearest leadership lessons I learned from her: Play is not a break from learning. Play is the learning. During her tenure Carole helped shape a museum where accessibility, sensory support, and economic access aren’t side notes, they’re the mission. From Morning Star Access and ASL interpretation, to $1 Sundays and Boston Family Days, the goal has always been simple: no child should be excluded from wonder. What I admire most is how she framed that work: “Listen to everyone, ideas come from everywhere.” That kind of humility and openness is what builds a real culture. Worth thinking about

Wishing Carole all the best as she closes this remarkable chapter.

The most effective leaders I’ve known don’t lead with certainty. They lead with trust.

On this week's episode of Finding Your Inner Mister Rogers I talked to Angelo Santinelli MBA, CPCC about mentorship, leadership, and what it really takes to build a culture people want to stay in. One line stayed with me:

"Nobody cares what you know until they know that you care."

That’s not soft leadership, that’s the foundation. Angelo made a point I think a lot of leaders miss: Trust isn’t built by having the answer to everything. It’s built through care, competence, consistency, character, and yes, vulnerability too. But not the kind that disappears under pressure. The kind that can say, "I don’t know yet, let’s figure it out." That balance matters:
Too much certainty and people stop telling you the truth.
Too much uncertainty and they stop trusting you.

What stood out most was how he connected leadership to values. Not just what people say they value, but what they actually choose when things get hard. Because in the real world, that’s where leadership shows up. In the hard conversations, the trade-offs and the moments when the easy choice is usually the wrong one. Worth thinking about.
