What a weekend!!! A lot of hard work went into getting this event @h20winterclassic back on the calendar. I’m super pumped to get 1st place overall for the 50+ category. Back in 1991, I owned a small surf and snowboard shop, and @teambkinc and I had a wild idea: what if a contest didn’t make you choose? Day one, you surfed. Day two, you snowboarded. And thanks to @bigdummyjam, in between, we threw a concert. Bands like @_pennywise and @blink182 cranked it up while everyone hung out, bled, laughed, and partied.

That idea became the H2O Winter Classic. And it didn’t just turn into an event, it became a snapshot of a moment. A loud, irreverent, no-rules culture driven by surfers and snowboarders who didn’t care about fitting into anyone else’s box. In ways we never expected, it helped spark what later became the X Games and the Warped Tour.

We wrapped it up in 1999. Ever since then, for the last 27 years, I’ve heard the same thing over and over: “You have to bring back the H2O Winter Classic.” I always said no. It never felt like the right time. More importantly, it didn’t feel like I was the right guy anymore.

That’s why I’m beyond stoked to say this: it’s coming back, and it’s coming back the right way.

One of the guys who competed in the event, who helped shape the vibe from the inside, is stepping up to carry it forward. My friend @toddproffit70 is fired up and ready to bring this historic event back to life, with the same heart and soul that made it special in the first place.

If you want to be part of something real, something rooted in the culture and driven by surfers and snowboarders, I hope you’ll jump in and support this. It’s the right time. Todd’s the right guy. And I honestly can’t wait to see where it goes.

Outlaw Snowboard Park (not a terrain park, a snowboard only park) The first one! The game changer to this day. Leave a comment, share a memory, let’s hear what you know about Outlaw and maybe the next generation will learn something new (maybe).
This was the poster and the second page was the ads placed in TWS. It was core and we didn’t give a shit about getting a clip. We Snowboarded because we loved Snowboarding. Next level riding went down daily without (or rarely) any footage capturing the moment. It was snowboarding just to snowboard. PURE SNOWBOARDING. @robertdafoewines.alot @mikeparillo , Tammy Beaver, Till Tillman, Iva and myself are on the poster and were the original crew. @bigbearmountainresort provided the canvas. This is a throwback to when I was working with @nikkisixxpixx on his Nsixx clothing line. Here’s a couple photos with Nikki and I followed by some photos I took of him at his house during a photoshoot.

Little background… At the time @motleycrue were broken up and Nikki was in a band called Brides of Destruction. They had just recorded a few songs and Nikki was playing them for me in his Kitchen as we waited for the hired photographer to show up. By this time I had already been working with Nikki for a year but this was the first time to his house.

We ended up using one of the photos I took of Nikki for this dragonfly ad as it was more candid then the hired photographer photos. He flipped me off and I snapped the pic. The hired photographer brought a ladder a shot down on Nikki. The angle was lame so we used the photos I took for marketing assets.

During this time working with Nikki I threw a rock star theme party at club rubber. Nikki Sixx and @tommylee both came to the party. This was the first time in a few year’s that these two legends were in the same room together. I believe this was the beginning of Motley Crew getting back together. by @toddproffit70
