POSTS STORIES REELS

Let us reintroduce ourselves 👋🏻

What began in 2011 as regular gatherings between dancers and musicians grew into Toronto Rhythm Initiative - and eventually into the ecosystem of projects we now share through Toffan Rhythm Projects.

Today our work continues through mentorship, youth programming, performances, presentation, and platforms that support artists while celebrating tap’s cultural lineage.

If you believe in supporting live arts and community-driven work, we’d love to have you along for the journey.

Follow along and share this post to help amplify tap dance in Canada.

Meet the faces behind Toffan Rhythm Projects 👋

Juliana Kelly and Allison Toffan are the co-founders of TRP - building space for rhythm-based artistry, collaboration, and community across Canada.

And while these two help lead the vision, TRP is powered by so many incredible artists, organizers, and supporters behind the scenes.

Follow along - we’ll be introducing more of the team soon. 🤍

Tap dance grows through education, performance, mentorship and community.

Toffan Rhythm Projects brings these pieces together through multiple initiatives that support the art form at different stages:

• Toronto Rhythm Initiative — youth training & mentorship
• Toronto International Tap Dance Festival — global artists & new Canadian work
• Ripple Effect — community outreach & accessible programming
• Creative Impact Forum, Artist Symposium, and Open Floor — projects supporting the broader ecosystem

Each program is designed to strengthen tap dance in Canada while connecting artists, students, and audiences.

If you’re curious about the work we’re building, explore more at toffanrhythmprojects.com and be sure to follow along!

When musicians and tap dancers come together it makes absolute magic - Bril said it best 🤞🏻

We’re so grateful to have had him join us and share his knowledge with us, we can’t wait to see him again soon!

Practice doesn’t always mean putting your tap shoes on. 👀

Sometimes, it means sitting in the audience - watching, listening, getting inspired and experiencing the art form in real time.

Come practice with us at the Toronto International Tap Dance Festival. 💜🎶

We loooove when we have the chance to uplift and share other percussive forms of dance.

Back at our 2017 festival jam we were able to do just that! Some of our stepdancing friends @christinecarr_moves & @cb_carabutler from @the.stepcrew took a tune, and boy was it a blast 💥

We can’t wait to see what our festival jam has in store this year! Reminder it’ll be at @dromtaberna on Sunday August 23. Hosted by the incredible @victoriaammiller

Long before the stages we dance on today, Joey Hollingsworth was building his own - teaching himself rhythm on a linoleum floor, breaking barriers on Canadian television, and sharing bills with the likes of Oscar Peterson and Harry Belafonte.

Ethel always asks whose shoulders we’re standing on - well folks, this is a great example right here. Join us opening night of TITDF for a special film screening honouring his life and legacy. 🥁
