Christopher Robin Nordström

Robin、New Era®、

Christopher Robin Nordström's first solo exhibition in Japan,
"Iteration", has come to a close.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who visited the exhibition, collected works, and supported the project.

Cities are constantly being renewed.

Yet most change does not happen through landmarks or large-scale redevelopment.

It happens quietly within ordinary houses.

A wall is repainted.
A window is covered.
A new fixture is added.

Through eight models of the same house across different points in time, Christopher Robin Nordström revealed how cities are shaped through countless small acts of maintenance, adaptation, neglect, and care.

These works felt not only like records of architecture, but also portraits of time itself.

Our heartfelt thanks to Robin, New Era®, and everyone who supported and spent time with the exhibition.

Thank you🏢🗼

Final Weekend.

Eight models of the same house,
reconstructed across different moments in time.

Through subtle changes and details,
the works reveal traces of time embedded within the everyday urban landscape.

On view through June 22.

We hope you'll visit before the exhibition closes.

i GALLERY OSAKA is currently presenting “Iteration,” the first solo exhibition in Japan by Christopher Robin Nordström (TokyoBuild).

Through detailed miniature reconstructions of Tokyo buildings, the exhibition explores memory, distance, and urban transformation.

Now on view through June 22, 2026.

————————————

“A house appears.
Then again.
And again.

Not a singular place, but a form repeated—familiar, quiet, almost invisible. The kind of house that fills the city without being noticed, that holds lives without insisting on being remembered.

Eight times, the same house returns.

Each model marks a different year, though time does not announce itself loudly. It settles in small ways: a surface replaced, a color faded, a detail added, something removed. These changes accumulate without spectacle. What shifts is not the structure alone, but the trace of living— maintenance, neglect, adaptation, care.

The house persists, but never fully remains.

In the city, such houses are not built to last indefinitely. They are renewed, overwritten, erased, and rebuilt. Stability is temporary. The idea of home detaches from permanence and drifts toward repetition—toward cycles rather than continuity.

At 1:20 scale, the houses exist in suspension. They can be seen at once, yet not fully entered. Their interiors are withheld or imagined. The viewer moves between distance and proximity, between recognition and uncertainty.

What appears identical begins to separate.
What seems to change remains the same.

Between these eight forms, time does not move forward in a straight line. It folds, loops, and returns —carried in surfaces, in minor differences, in the quiet insistence of the ordinary.

A house appears.
And disappears.
Without ever quite leaving.”

My exhibition Iteration @igallery_osaka in Osaka has now opened! Almost one year in the making. A conceptual miniature exhibition that tells a story of a house Ofer a period of 17 years with eight miniatures portraits. A story of change, adaption and finally the death of the house since it is now torn down. A project that has open my eyes even more to the mundane, the ordinary and the story’s that lay behind the grey patina. Thanks you all for the support.
And stay tuned, other project are already in the making.. by @tokyobuild

Aircons, the barnacle’s of the houses around the world. A kind of anti design that so conmon you kind of don’t see it anymore.
Maybe one of my favorite projects within a project is to make these aircons.
I make them out of 0,3mm brass sheets that are photoetched and then soldered together. Then painted, then adding custom printed decals. For this exhibition @igallery_osaka I did 48 aircons.
Stay tuned for more updates around my first major solo exhibition.
