It’s 10 o’clock in the morning on October the 24th…

A little late, perhaps. I fear we may have missed second breakfast. 🍳😅

But fear not, fellow Hobbits! There’s still plenty of time for elevenses, a good pint at the Green Dragon, and a comfortable afternoon with absolutely no adventures whatsoever.

Although, if Gandalf happens to show up at the door, we all know how that usually goes. 😂

So, what’s on the menu in your corner of the Shire today? 🍃

Happy 68th birthday to Viggo Mortensen, the man who brought Aragorn to life in The Lord of the Rings trilogy!

From the reluctant ranger known as Strider to the King of Gondor, Viggo’s portrayal of Aragorn gave us a hero defined not just by his courage, but by his humility, compassion, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved.

Through his dedication to the role, Viggo made Aragorn’s journey one of the most memorable parts of the trilogy. Whether leading the Fellowship, standing against the forces of Mordor, or answering the call to reclaim his throne, he embodied the heart of a king long before he ever wore the crown.

And in a remarkable Tolkien coincidence, Viggo shares his birthday with the original UK publication of The Return of the King, which was released on October 20, 1955!

Wishing Viggo Mortensen a wonderful birthday! May his legacy in Middle-earth continue to inspire generations of fans.

BREAKING 🚨: Peter Jackson Reveals The Hunt for Gollum Has Just Two Weeks of Filming Left! 🎥

We’re getting closer to returning to Middle-earth! Peter Jackson has revealed that The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum is nearing the end of filming, with approximately two weeks of shooting remaining.

Speaking during an appearance at the 2026 Sitges Film Festival in Spain, where he discussed his upcoming projects, Jackson provided an update on both new Lord of the Rings films.

“We have ‘The Shadow of the Past,’ which is in the scriptwriting stage. ‘The Hunt for Gollum’ is almost finished filming. I think there are about two weeks of shooting left,” Jackson explained.

The Hunt for Gollum is directed by Andy Serkis, who returns as Gollum, with Jackson producing alongside longtime collaborators Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens. Set between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogies, the film follows the search for Gollum before he can reveal the One Ring’s location to Sauron.

Meanwhile, The Lord of the Rings: The Shadow of the Past, the second planned film, is still in the scriptwriting stage. The project was announced by Jackson and Stephen Colbert earlier this year, with Colbert, his son Peter McGee, and Boyens developing the screenplay.

With filming nearing completion, The Hunt for Gollum is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 17, 2027.

The journey back to Middle-earth is almost ready for its next chapter. 🧙‍♂️

The Ents and the Entwives: The Lost Gardens of Middle-earth

The story of the Entwives is one of the quieter tragedies in Tolkien’s legendarium, but their importance reaches far beyond their disappearance. While the Ents loved the wild forests, the Entwives preferred orchards, meadows, and cultivated fields. They wanted growing things to flourish according to their wishes, creating gardens where order and plenty could endure.

Eventually, the Entwives crossed the Great River Anduin and made gardens in the lands to the east. Their work flourished, and many Men learned their agricultural crafts and honoured them. Yet the Ents and Entwives grew increasingly distant, each remaining in the landscape they loved. When the Ents later searched for their lost companions, they found that the gardens had been destroyed and the Entwives were nowhere to be found.

“But the Entwives were not there. Long we called, and long we searched; and we asked all folk that we met which way the Entwives had gone.” — The Two Towers, Book III, Chapter 4: “Treebeard”

The ruined gardens became known as the Brown Lands. Treebeard never discovered what had happened to Fimbrethil or the other Entwives, and their ultimate fate remains unknown. He nevertheless held on to the hope that the two peoples might one day find each other again, even as he feared that such a reunion might come only after they had both changed beyond recognition.

Their fate remains one of the great unanswered mysteries of Middle-earth. Tolkien gives us no confirmed reunion, no final answer, and no certainty that the Entwives survived. Instead, their story leaves us with the memory of a people who cultivated beautiful gardens, the sorrow of a search that endured through the ages, and the faint hope that the separation of the Ents and Entwives might not be forever.

BREAKING 🚨: Peter Jackson Officially Joins The Hunt for Gollum Writing Team

@DEADLINE has revealed that Peter Jackson is also now a writer on The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, adding another role to his involvement in the upcoming film.

Jackson, who directed the original The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, was previously attached as a producer alongside longtime creative partners Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens.

The film is directed by Andy Serkis, who returns as Gollum. Its story takes place between The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring, following the hunt for Gollum before he can reveal the One Ring’s location to Sauron.

With Jackson now reportedly joining the writing team, another key creative force behind the original films is helping shape this new chapter of Middle-earth.

Could this mean an even stronger connection to the storytelling that made the original trilogy so beloved?

The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 17, 2027.

BREAKING 🚨: The Lord of the Rings: Shadow of the Past Reportedly Paused

Following the completed Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. merger, the newly formed Skydance has reportedly hit “pause” on Stephen Colbert’s The Lord of the Rings: Shadow of the Past, according to an exclusive report from @KnightEdgeMedia.

Colbert revealed the film on Tolkien Day, with Colbert, his son, and Lord of the Rings alum Philippa Boyens attached as writers. The film is expected to be a flashback following the six chapters of The Fellowship of the Ring omitted from Peter Jackson’s original film, including the Old Forest, the Barrow-downs, and Tom Bombadil.

The movie was rumored to begin filming after The Hunt for Gollum finished in New Zealand. But following the merger, Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy are no longer with the company after facilitating Warner Bros.’ plans to produce future Lord of the Rings films with Peter Jackson in 2023.

CBS, another Skydance subsidiary, also fired Colbert from his late-night show earlier this year. Knight Edge Media says Colbert is now once again at the mercy of CEO David Ellison, despite developing the film for Warner Bros.

The film has not been canceled, but has hit major development speed bumps. Colbert may still work on drafts, though filming isn’t expected anytime soon. The new studio reportedly wants to see how The Hunt for Gollum performs before greenlighting more projects, while The War of the Rohirrim’s poor box-office performance is also cited.

It’s also possible Skydance could move away from the Peter Jackson team and seek new voices to tackle Tolkien’s legendarium.

The Hunt for Gollum remains unaffected and is already filming, with production expected to continue after the merger.

Shadow of the Past currently has no set release date.

BREAKING 🚨: Sir Ian McKellen Appears To Have Wrapped His Main Filming For The Hunt For Gollum 👀

It looks like Gandalf may have finished his latest journey through Middle-earth.

Sir Ian McKellen appears to have completed his main on-set filming block as Gandalf for “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum.” After spending roughly the past two months in New Zealand, McKellen has now been spotted back in London attending the 2026 Laver Cup at The O2, where he was photographed chatting with tennis legend Rod Laver.

With principal photography on The Hunt for Gollum beginning in mid-July, McKellen’s return to London suggests he may have spent around 10 weeks working on the film.

That would make his latest Middle-earth filming schedule considerably shorter than his previous experiences with the franchise. McKellen’s original The Lord of the Rings principal photography stretched across almost 11½ months, from January through December 2000. His work on The Hobbit was spread across three filming blocks spanning roughly 15 months between March 2011 and July 2012.

However, there is an important distinction: there has been no official confirmation that McKellen has completely wrapped his role as Gandalf. His return to London may indicate that his main filming block is finished, but additional photography or other work could still be required.

And The Hunt for Gollum itself is very much still in production.

Directed by Andy Serkis, the film stars McKellen alongside returning Middle-earth actors including Elijah Wood, with Jamie Dornan playing Aragorn and Lee Pace returning as Thranduil. The film is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 17, 2027.

What do you think McKellen’s filming schedule tells us about Gandalf’s role in The Hunt for Gollum?

BREAKING 🚨: First Look At The Hunt For Gollum 🎥

Warner Bros. has unveiled the first official set images from The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, giving us our first real glimpse of the new film’s return to the Shire — and, most importantly, Elijah Wood back as Frodo Baggins.

The images show fresh-faced Hobbits moving through Hobbiton, with one particularly striking shot appearing to show Frodo approaching the familiar green round door of Bag End. It’s an instantly recognizable piece of Middle-earth, and seeing it again after all these years is something genuinely special.

We also get a behind-the-scenes look at Andy Serkis directing on set. Serkis is not only behind the camera for this new chapter, but is once again returning as Gollum through motion capture.

The film takes place in the years surrounding the events of The Fellowship of the Ring, exploring the hunt for Gollum that Tolkien only briefly recounted through Gandalf and Aragorn. Jamie Dornan plays Aragorn, with Ian McKellen returning as Gandalf, while Lee Pace returns as Thranduil.

And now, for the first time, we can actually see Frodo in this new chapter of Middle-earth.

There’s something wonderfully surreal about seeing Hobbiton alive again.

Twenty-five years after Peter Jackson’s journey began, we’re going back to the Shire.

The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum arrives in theaters December 17, 2027.

🚨 BREAKING: The first look at Sir Ian McKellen as Gandalf on the set of “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum” has been released. 🎬 by @tolkien_verse

Elijah Wood has made his stance absolutely clear when it comes to Frodo Baggins.

He doesn’t want anyone else stepping into that role.

When discussions began around future The Lord of the Rings projects, Wood made sure his position was known, directly communicating it to Andy Serkis. For him, Frodo isn’t just another character that can be recast over time.

It’s personal.

It’s a role that defined not just his career, but an entire generation of storytelling.

He made it clear that as long as he is still here and capable, he wants to be the one carrying that legacy forward. No replacements. No reinterpretations. Just the same Frodo fans grew up with.

And eventually, that became reality.

It was officially confirmed that Elijah Wood will return as Frodo in The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, bringing back one of the most iconic characters in fantasy history.

His words say everything:

“I certainly wouldn’t want anybody else to play Frodo as long as I’m alive and able.”

And honestly… it’s hard to imagine anyone else. by @tolkien_verse
