From the Qiddiya Resort Core below, our landmark performing arts centre gleams with color and light. It lives as a physical and a digital object, transforming across the day and year, sometimes in sync with the content inside, and sometimes based on its internal programming and interactive sensors.

After more than a year and a half of work, TWA is very excited to reveal our 72,000 SM multiform performing arts centre @ Qiddiya City. Thank you to our amazing team at TWA, to our executive partner BSBG, to our excellent consultant team, and to everyone at QIC for your support and enthusiasm in realizing this vision. by @tom.wiscombe

Several thin megaliths lean on one another, sheltering a shaded, indoor/outdoor microclimate. Multilevel gardens and bridges span between them, giving pedestrian life a home far from cars, in a climate that works year-round in Los Angeles.

Part of our Earth Protector series developed over the last seven years, Megalith Tower explores simple slabs and the careful orientation of elements to make something mysterious and powerful, yet kind and protective.

World-renowned architects @schumacher.patrik (#ZHA), @viviana_muscettola (#ZHA), @tom.wiscombe (#TWA), and @shajay_Bhooshan (#ZHACODE) lead an online intensive exploration of architecture's next frontier: the convergence of cybernetic and physical space.

Set within @metrotopia.metaverse, a virtual city dedicated to design experimentation and architectural innovation, the program operates simultaneously as an advanced design studio, research lab, discourse platform and design experiment. Participants investigate architecture as a discipline operating across cybernetic and material realms.

Design becomes a systemic intelligence where geometry, human reasoning and machine processes combine to form adaptive spatial ecologies. Fully online with global participation. Join us!

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Qiddiya Performing Arts Centre was just epic, bringing together Qiddiya and NESMA Leadership, luminaries, builders, architects, and engineers.
Amazing and humbling!

QPAC is like a dream.
An impossible megastructure on desert cliffs.
Landed here from the future, or maybe the past.
I call this: future-ancient architecture.
Mysterious.
Glistening.
Alive.

QPAC is a sky-building.
Megaliths land from above, they do not grow from the earth.
They gather together to create deep, district-scale shade.
Protecting humans, animals, and plants from sun, wind, and sometimes, rain.
A sanctuary.
I call it: Earth Protector.

QPAC is like a giant model kit, being assembled with giant hands.
Provisional. Playful... Qiddiya!

Massive parts, like slabs and chevrons, break our sense of the human scale and our everyday
expectations, making us curious…
How did this get here? How was it built? How is this even possible?
Altering everyday scale and time unsettles reality.
This is what theatre does, too.
It unsettles reality.

QPAC invites Saudi Arabia to the world of theatre.
Engaging Saudi Youth, sparking their imagination for decades to come.
QPAC does not just contain a stage, it is a stage.
Theatre pours out of the interior to the exterior spaces.
A giant space for art and creativity, on many levels.
Light, sound, action, community.
Theatre becomes life.

As QPAC transforms with light and color, so will Saudi Arabia Transform.

The Qiddiya Performing Arts Centre is a once-in-a-lifetime project, and its progress is entirely due to the incredible team behind it.

As we enter 2026, I want to thank the Leadership, Project and Delivery teams at QIC for your trust and vision; our partners at BSBG and our innovative consultant team for your guidance and support; our builders NESMA for your excitement and care, and of course my super-dedicated, creative, and inventive colleagues at TWA.

It is your combined intelligence, trust, and teamwork that bring this project to life. Here’s to the million things that went right this year that got us on site and under construction. Happy New Year!"

After a pause, SKYHOUSE is back on the boards and moving imminently into permitting.
This house, with its jutting triangular decks and 360 degree views over West Hollywood, was originally designed by Architect Angelo Cacciola (1989).
TWA‘s update makes it more of what it already was, with more glass and a forward-leaning silhouette to pull it further off the earth.
