Still feeling emotional and speechless from Makam Salam earlier this Dec… 🖤🕯️🎶

This year (and a quarter) has felt like a year of darkness. But during this Holiday (Chrismukkah 🕎🎄) season, I’m holding onto the hope that even the smallest 🕯️ spark of light can help dissipate some darkness. I’m proud of this little light-filling project here in London — through music, togetherness, and a shared dream of peace and justice. The more we connect across divisions, the more possible that dream feels, to a future where the whole world chooses compassion over anger, togetherness over hate, and light over darkness 🕊️💫🖤

I was deeply honored to share the stage with incredible artists who inspire me endlessly — like @noa_nini & @gilidor , who I first met and admired since the age of 10, the miraculous @miraawadofficial, the inspiring @meera.eilabouni, and abundance of other world class talents like @brokenfingaz, @uzi.navon , @daniel.gouly , @elanasasson, @david__mordechai @oliverkourosh and so many more. These moments felt like a dream come true, made even more meaningful by the energy of everyone who came together that night.

Thank you to everyone who made Makam Salam possible. Let’s keep bringing whatever little light we can to the world 🕯️💫 🌍

So proud to have made this happen with my amazing life partner @emiliehnzo 💕

Thank you, @shambalafest! We packed the tent until no space left, made people dance, cry and hug. That's why we do this 🕊️ Save the date: Nov 19 for a next special performance! 💫

People squeezed and spilling out the sides, by the end the whole tent was dancing and everyone was on their feet clapping. What a feeling.

Then something happened we didn't expect - after we finished, a man from the audience walked up, took the mic, and spoke for a long time about how deeply the music had moved him.

This is why we do this. Musicians from across borders, making music together and hoping together for a shared, just and peaceful future.

Thank you Shambala, and thank you to every single person in that tent. It was an honour and a real joy 💛

📅 Save the date: Thursday 19 Nov, EFG London Jazz Festival.
Very special guests, to be revealed soon 👀

Thank you @jamie.reibl for playing and filming these beautiful clips! 📸🎷

Still can’t believe - just wrapped l studio recordings for my first piano trio EP! 🎹💿 with the unbelievable players and friends @onehemya on drums and @bassaloni on bass 🔥❤️

So excited to have made this a reality, and on New Years (Rosh HaShana). Long way to go still, but it’s happening.
I’ll be sharing the process here as I go, the good parts and the messy.

if there’s anyone I should be talking to along the way, in the creative process or before releasing, or anyone you think should hear this, drop them below 👇

Can’t believe - Just finished recording my first piano trio all originals EP!! 🎊💽

It was such a dream to get to do this with the total beasts ❤️🔥 Ofri Nehemya @onehemya and Alon Near @bassaloni. Absolute top world players in this genre.
We recorded 5 songs in 4 hours. No rehearsals together beforehand. On the last song we had 10 minutes left in the studio, did 2 takes (full 5 minute song!), and take 2 was it. 🚀 That can only happen with incredible players like these.

Just a couple of months ago, on my birthday, I sat down and wrote my goals for the year. I set to myself to finally record a first trio EP, of originals. I didn’t have the material yet. Or a regular Trio. No date. That same day I talked to Ofri, my friend from high school and honestly one of the best drummers in the world right now, and he was in. Then Alon was in too. But we only had a few days in September where we’d all be in the same city.

By then, I only had a month to go to finish 2 more songs and get ready.

I didn’t feel ready at all, nothing was ready, I went back and forth for weeks about whether to do it - but I’m so glad I did.

I’ve been a full perfectionist my whole life. Always waited for the moment when the music, my playing, and the timing is perfect. But that moment never came. So I realized that I can keep waiting but I’d never be perfect. I’ll always want to be better. So if I keep waiting, I just never put anything out.

So I decided to let go and flip it around: Capture where I am right now. What I have to say right now. A snapshot of this moment in my life. I can keep growing and keep capturing as I go.

And honestly, booking the studio before I was ready, and having the now-or-(maybe)-never moment is exactly what made it happen. Give yourself a deadline and you find a way.

Thank you to everyone who helped me get here, and to everyone who’s going to be part of what comes next. Still a long road ahead.

Happy new year everyone, and a good rentrée to school! 🍎📖

What is your goal for this year? ❓⬇️ I’d love to know. And think what can you book to force yourself to make it a reality 💪

What do you think of this song now?? Based on last week’s comments, you guys liked 3 and 7. What do you think of this full version moving from 3 to 7? How about this ending?
Crazy but Going to record in a studio in 10 days seems like! What’s your thoughts and feedback about this song? Hope to finish it in time!

We loved making #shambalafestival dance with some Kurdish folk songs!
Thank you everyone such an amazing audience.
This song, Es Kevoke (/ kevokim), is about the dove 🕊️ wanting to fly to its beloved, be accepted and seen by, and longing for the union and belonging 🤍

Poll! Rough sketches of a new tune (that mayyyyyybe might go into the studio soon?!) but for that - I want to hear your thoughts!
Which Meter??
1️⃣ 3/4
2️⃣ 4/4
3️⃣ 7/8
Which do you think? (And tell me any reasons and thoughts in comments please!) 🙏
These are very rough drafts of me figuring this out as I go. Haven’t practiced it before. So you get it raw. Sorry for some mistakes here and there. But hope you’d enjoy going through the process along with me, as I’m (we’re?) building this towards a potential recording soon! ❤️🙏

Ay Dilo. "My heart" in Kurdish.
A beautiful traditional Kurdish song about the heart longing for its unreachable love.
Maybe the loved one had to go and couldn't return. Maybe it's the heart longing for the missing, real, safe, home.
Wonderful @olcaybayirmusic starring leading this beautiful song.
