🧡 A Cause Close to Our Hearts 🧡

In our industry, we're taught to keep going. Work the double, push through the stress. Take care of the guest. Show up for your team.

But behind every great meal, every cocktail, every packed dining room, there are people carrying the weight of long hours, late nights, burnout, anxiety, depression, and the everyday pressures that come with hospitality.

That's why we proudly support Celebrate Wellness. @celebratewellnessde

Their mission is simple but powerful: make mental health support accessible to hospitality workers throughout Delaware by connecting people with resources, education, and professional therapy when they need it most.

Tomorrow night, Celebrate Wellness will host its annual Orange Party fundraiser at Big Chill Beach Club, bringing together the hospitality community to support mental health awareness and access to care. Their goal is to fund hundreds of additional therapy hours for local hospitality workers.

If you've ever worked in a restaurant, behind a bar, in a kitchen, at a host stand, or supported someone who has, you understand why this matters.

If you guys thought I was insufferable with the Jon Hamm/Kato mash up, I have news for you, the @saxboybilly18 song is going to make me ten times worse, actually being from Puerto Rico.

It’s about 3 weeks since I lost my career with Spirit Airlines, but this song is giving me so much life right now. Watch until the end to really appreciate my beautiful Island of Puerto Rico.

We had the absolute pleasure of hosting Charity, Sam, and the crew from The Dispatch with Sam Nuemann this week, and what an experience it was.

They’re on an incredible journey, traveling to 50 small towns in 50 states to uncover the real stories behind local food, drinks, and the people who bring them to life. For Delaware, they chose Lewes… and we were lucky enough to be part of that story.

From the moment they walked in, it felt less like filming and more like sharing what we love with people who genuinely get it. Their passion for storytelling, attention to detail, and appreciation for the little things that make places special really came through. It reminded us why we do what we do.

A few years back I trained for a half marathon, and it ended up getting canceled because of COVID. I always told myself I wanted to come back and do it again.

Last year I reached out to @xelaokpohc about his Philly Marathon plan, and he convinced me to get back into it. We got @abcslater involved and had some other friends join in along the way.

Big thank you to @tridentlewes @brekusen @coach_tom_icon for helping keep me in rhythm throughout the process, for @caittayy for emotional support, and a shoutout to myself for sticking to the training and seeing it through.

Doing hard things is good for the soul.

If you don’t know Dave and Christine from Lewes Brewing, you should definitely stop by and introduce yourself. They’re great locals doing great things; brewing excellent beer and creating one of the friendliest spots in town.

Right off the bike trail, their brewery is the perfect stop during a ride or a sunny afternoon out. Make sure to work them into your spring and summer Lewes plans.

The last time the three of us founders sat down for dinner together was before we ever opened our doors (3+ years ago). Life, business, and the pace of this industry don’t always leave room to pause, so sharing a table again tonight felt special.

We spent the evening at @bardeawilmington, and the experience was nothing short of incredible. Thoughtful food, genuine hospitality, and the kind of attention to detail that reminds you why we all fell in love with this craft in the first place.

Even more meaningful, its the night before we have the honor of volunteering as judges for the ProStart @deprostart @prostartprogram student culinary competition, watching the next generation step into this world with passion, courage, and creativity. Moments like that keep you grounded and grateful.

🦪🍺 INTRODUCING: LEWES OYSTER STOUT 🍺🦪 A collab with @revbeer and @arrowheadpointoysters

This one hits close to home.

This was brewed alongside a longtime friend @m_dief who I worked with at @crookedhammockbrewery who is now the head brewery over at @revbeer. New found friend @zombdob has been a long time supporter of the restaurant and also brews there alongside Mickey. Arrowhead Point has had our backs since before we opened and was the first local oyster farm we worked with so being able to team up with Chad and the gang was an absolute blast.

Ok, now for the beer; brewed with dark malts, a touch of smoked malt, and 500 Arrowhead Point oysters in the boil, “Lewes Oyster Stout” is a true coastal collaboration. The oysters bring a subtle minerality and hint of brine that lift and round out the malt; not fishy, not heavy, just smooth and balanced.

Clocking in around 5% ABV, it drinks easy, silky, and approachable while still delivering depth and character.

This one is a hit, and pairs perfectly with oysters, just ask Justin @az2e !

Taking a break from travel and weatherman posts because I got the best news I’ve gotten in months last night.

One of my best friends in the world (and one of my longest friends in Delaware) just asked me to be his wedding officiant. I don’t know how to describe how awesome it feels that both of my best friends have now asked me to officiate their weddings. It’s a massive honor.

Here’s the backstory:

I met Tommy when we were both in our 20s. We worked for places that would later become La Vida Hospitality. We actually both got fired for hilarious reasons—and got rehired when Crooked Hammock opened its doors.

We took on the roles of marketing, social media, and digital marketing as the company grew. We built the digital footprint for that company together, and eventually even taught a class on it at DelTech for their marketing conference.

Fast forward a few years:

• We both own Airbnbs.
• We’ve started our own businesses.
• I was lucky enough to be there that first year to watch his and Sean’s vision at Lewes Oyster House come to life.

Every step of the way, this dude has had my back. He’s been there when I’ve had the toughest times, which seem to be coming a lot more frequently lately.

But that first year at Lewes Oyster House, I remember exactly how stoked I was when he said, “My girlfriend Caitlin is coming in to sit at the bar so you can meet her.”

We took trips to Puerto Rico, attended other weddings together, and through that whole ride, I’ve seen Tommy and Caitlin be each other’s person. I always joked that Tombo and I were the only ones that weren’t married yet out of the friend group.

But I’ve known in my heart for a while that Caitlin was going to be the one to change that. And I’m f*cking ecstatic that I was right.

Alas, I’ll hold down the torch as the last bastion of the unwed. 🔦
