“Unusual Star”
Steel, cement, epoxy, pigments
2026

Last week my friend Elissa would have turned 30. She was an absolute blast, a critical hang, a true goat, and a brilliant, vibrant person. It took me two years to finish this sculpture, she would have slapped the procrastination right out of me 😳

A sincere thank you to @ap0cene for creative direction and @envelope.services for fabrication guidance.

I have a ton of new work I’m really proud of, but in the meantime here’s a poem I wrote for Elissa. Hug your friends 🩷

*

The reaches of our universe harbor rare, unusual stars

The only known stars on which humans can survive.

Six soft points of gleaming silver, sparkling in the dark.

The ground swirls and undulates with warmth and regularity, as if it is asleep and dreaming. One night’s rest on the surface is said to heal all known forms of sickness.

These rare stars are composed of alloys rich in platinum, onyx, and energetic particles. Inhabitants harvest the glittering ore once a century, taking great care and gathering only as much as they need. From it they spin fine delicate fibers and fashion garments of incredible beauty, granting the wearer true immortality.

Across time and space there are no objects more precious. by @tommyfoxart

Glazing between layers! I forgot to add reason #5 … glazing can protect all your previous work from scuffs AND it makes the next work easier to wipe away if you don’t like it 🤓 taken in The Northern Neck by @tommyfoxart

A week after my 34th birthday I finally became a dad! I was obsessed with bunbuns as a little lad and now I have one. I found this cute little ai baby wandering the streets near JFK airport, and now it’s safe and chubby and smells like fresh cotton. Still unnamed, for now I call her Bunting. If you’d like an appearance in the 804 area we’re waiving the $75,000 fee for anyone who can’t afford it ❤️ 🐰 taken in Jamaica Queens NY by @tommyfoxart

Three plates, a mouse and a fox. I love painting these things, each one is like a tiny self contained work of art.

Did some live painting for the *very swanky* @ral_art_center 75th anniversary, these pieces will be auctioned to raise money toward building a new community art education facility!!! I’ll post better non-potato-quality pics when they’re all done and framed.

When I lived in Kilmarnock VA the Rappahannock Art League was an important part of my life and I’m so stoked to see it grow and transform.

These paintings are loosely based on monolithic sculptures from Mayan, Aztec, and Olmec culture.
