Hey look, @ianbrownlee painted a portrait of me! I love it! Thanks Ian! The other slides are a few examples of his work that are up at @amce.creative.arts. Ian dropped by my studio recently to see my setup and work. We ended with a little chat in the living room and he snapped a reference photo of me. I’m used to being in that role, so it was funny to be the subject. Ian’s paintings are wild and varied spaces of texture and characters. I’ll have to make a portrait of you soon, Ian! by @tomthinks

Self portrait in an unknown landscape, but maybe Japan. Jess and I are spending 2 weeks there in October. We haven’t had a break in a while, so I look forward to wandering there. Like these dots. I’ve fallen into drawing with this very large tip posca marker, but only using a tiny bit of one corner of its tip to make repetitive marks. I’m inspired by wood and grain. I get to feel the drawing as a tactile experience instead of a strictly willed image. I don’t have to look hard. I set my hand and it does a system of marks there. Then I put it somewhere else. No struggle, only invitation. by @tomthinks

Sometimes I take out my phone and take pictures of my friends while they are talking, and if they know me well they know what I am doing. @brandonvosika is always fun to draw. This moment was from the soft launch of @inconvenience_store_art which you should check out. You can see some @jesusmaryannejoseph balloons in the background. by @tomthinks

Come see my art show ANIMALS & PEOPLE tonight 6-8pm (July 10th) at @pianonobile at Phinney Center, 6615 Dayton Ave N! We are doing an artist talk and generally having a party time, so join in! My cat Roscoe has always been a big inspiration to me, so come see where he’s come to rest for now! We have big window paintings and I’ll be selling my art books as well! This week at Piano Nobile! Celebrate our guest artist Tom Deslongchamp @tomthinks! Each season we welcome a guest artist to the studio at Piano Nobile to share a new body of work. This summer Tom has filled the studio with drawings, including a series of 7 enormous portraits installed in the windows of our printshop.

From huge portraits of animals to startlingly intimate, quiet portraits of friends, Tom’s work is impeccably detailed, earnest, and easy to love.

Please join us to celebrate his work on Friday July 10, 6-8 pm, when we’ll have a reception in the gallery as well as an interview with Tom about his studio practice, tips for stealthily installing “good boy” graffiti, and more.

Guys I’m too busy to make a cool video about my upcoming artist reception and art show at @pianonobile on July 10th, 6-8pm in North Seattle, so I must use simple video means as these. Forgive me. Today is 20 years since @jessraephoenix and I got married. We knew we had something special, so we went for it. It doesn’t feel like 20 years, it just feels like life. We are pretty intertwined still. Still goofs. Still kids who kiss and make art. Hoping for at least 40 more years at LEAST. by @tomthinks
