The Euro tour with @straight_8_ continues! “Just Thinking of You” screens Friday June 20, at Cinema les Arcades @ 11am, for the Cannes Lions Festival. Then we will return to London on Thursday, June 26, playing at Prince Charles Cinema @ 6pm. I can’t thank everyone enough for the continued love and support. I’m still reeling from this whole experience, and it’s something I’ll hold onto for the rest of my days. We’ve encountered so many amazing people, places, and films along the way. We’re looking forward to sharing this little film with the rest of the world very soon! by @tomvanscoyoc

We’re going to Cannes!!! “Just Thinking of You” will have its official preview as a top 8 finalist in the @straight_8_ competition program. Screening is on Monday, May 19th at 6:30pm at Cinema Olympia. After Cannes, we will have our world premiere in London at @britishfilminstitute IMAX on Saturday, May 24th. Online premiere is May 30th. In some ways this was one of the most challenging films I’ve ever made, in other ways it was one of the easiest - A full week of living out of my backpack, riding the subway 8 times a day, constantly forgetting to eat or sleep, no phones or computers, exterior time lapses during the longest NY winter cold spell in recent memory, blind audio sync, shooting between locations chronologically, no editing, not being able to see my footage(I have yet to see it still), all for the sake of making art with my best friends and telling a story that needed to be shared with the world. Thank you @straight_8_ for the opportunity to join the challenge, for leveling the playing field, and for keeping filmmaking fun. Literal childhood dream come true. Bucket list item unlocked. 1 year and 1 month, 300+ hours, countless late night commutes, meeting with many old folks, books, youtube, sanding, expensive mistakes, happy accidents, sanding, varnishing, sanding, varnishing, sanding, remembering old skills, and learning many new ones too. Did I mention sanding? Finally able to check this one off the bucket list ✅ Building a sharpie had been in the back of my mind for many years. Recently, my research for a feature script idea had finally pushed me over the edge. This project has taken me on the deepest of dives into American working class maritime history, local East End history, marine biology and aquaculture, woodworking, geometry, physics, and maritime culture. More on that to come… It’s been an extremely humbling journey, and I’m so grateful and lucky to have had the chance to partake in this father/son project of a lifetime. Each step was a test to uphold artistic vision, channel my inner Bubbie, and realize my namesake. Everyone in this small community of boat builders was eager to pass on the knowledge and wisdom that comes with this dying art form. Shoutout to the legendary Capt.
