Hello, I'm Tom. Freelance illustrator, map-maker and creative cartographer.

I've been working as a full-time freelance illustrator since 2014, collaborating with clients from all around the world.

I love bringing visuals and information together to create maps that are engaging and easy to understand.

Some of the different types of maps I create include...

3D, isometric maps for hotels, Universities and museums.

2D maps for college campuses and visitor attractions.

Illustrated maps for National Parks and nature reserves.

Eye-catching maps for magazines, publishing and murals.

I also create technical maps that show building plans and city geography.

I really enjoy illustrating characters too 😊

Fun map for @voices.gloucester. This new map of Gloucester City centre highlights four different self-led heritage walking tours and promotes the new cycle path.

The map has been printed as a folded-leaflet and made into an interactive online version.

Great to work with @squeakypedal and the Gloucester team again.

Picked up one of the new Jewellery Quarter Neighbourhood guides yesterday. Includes a fold-out map I created listing lots of top notch places in the JQ area. You can pick one up in cafes and venues around the Jewellery Quarter.

It was an honour to work with @centralbidbirmingham on a new illustrated map mural for Birmingham City Centre.

Here I show the archway before and after, and reveal a little bit of the work behind the scenes.

The brief was to create a new map mural that adds a splash of colour to the underpass, and helps point people in the right direction.

I was lucky to see @actiongraphicsanddisplay installing the final printed artwork. by @tomwoolley

Next up in the underpass, in January we asked Birmingham’s own, globally recognised map maker and illustrator the incredibly talented @tomwoolley to develop a new illustrated way-finding solution for the uninspiring grey hoarding, to help guide city centre visitors walking both ways through the underpass.
