Esperanza means hope. Around here, it looks a lot like community.

At Esperanza, community is part of the journey forward.

People are not items on conveyor belts.

There is no universal path out of homelessness because there is no universal experience of homelessness.

One person may need identification and access to benefits. Another may be ready for employment or training. Someone else may need time, healthcare, recovery support or the opportunity to rebuild trust.

Community-centered work requires us to listen before deciding what someone needs. It means recognizing that progress may happen slowly, unevenly and differently for every person.

At TOOF, people are active participants in their own journeys. Our role is to work alongside them, not move them through a process designed without them. by @toofound

Community happens in the everyday moments. A conversation. A laugh. A meal. A little help when you need it.

At TOOF, we believe community is the catalyst for lasting change.

Homelessness is not always visible.

Stacee’s experience challenges many of the assumptions people carry about what homelessness looks like and who experiences it.

Her story includes work, relationships, setbacks, determination and goals for the future. Homelessness is part of that story, but it does not define who she is.

At TOOF, we believe meaningful support begins by seeing each person as a whole human being, with strengths, choices, experiences and their own understanding of what progress means.

Stacee’s story reminds us to look beyond labels. When we begin with understanding, we make room for dignity, possibility and connection. by @toofound

Caught in the act: TOOF staff doing what TOOF staff do.

Behind every program is a team figuring things out, solving problems, and showing up.

Community changes everything but community begins with understanding.

Understanding that homelessness is rarely caused by one event, but a series of challenging circumstances. Understanding that progress cannot be reduced to a single service, deadline or definition or success.

Understanding that every person arrives with their own history, strengths, relationships, barriers and hopes.

At TOOF, we meet people where they are and work alongside them as they define their unique pathway out of homelessness. That work begins by seeing the whole person—not simply their housing status.

Throughout October, we’ll share stories and perspectives that invite our community to look closer, question assumptions and better understand what meaningful support can look like.

This is what community looks like. People showing up for each other, again and again.

At TOOF, we believe community is the catalyst for lasting change.

Thanks again to our friends and neighbors who came to the ribbon cutting of the new @glimmeraustin Community Center.

People deserve the opportunity to build the life they want. We’re here for that.

Shelter. Opportunity. Support. Community = Radical Kinship. That’s TOOF

Look what community built.

This week, we celebrated the official opening of 100 additional tiny homes and the Glimmer Austin Community Center at Esperanza Community.

These spaces represent more room for safety, stability, wellness, connection and the everyday work of moving forward.

This milestone was made possible by residents, staff, volunteers, partners, supporters and community leaders who believe that people experiencing homelessness deserve more than a temporary response. They deserve the opportunity to be known, supported and included.

Thank you to everyone who helped us reach this moment—and to everyone continuing with us into what comes next.

Community changes everything.

$5 can become $55 for TOOF.

From October 1–10, we’re participating in Amplify Home, a community-wide giving campaign supporting organizations working in housing, shelter, and homelessness.

Here’s what makes this year different:

When you make your first gift of $5 or more to TOOF through Amplify Home, an additional $50 will be added to your gift while matching funds are available.

Give $5 → $55 supports the work.
Give $25 → $75 supports the work.
Give $100 → $150 supports the work.

Every gift matters — and right now, every donor has the opportunity to make their gift go further.

Matching funds are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis, so October 1 is the best time to give.

Give through our Amplify Home page: Link in our bio

Because community changes everything.
