When I listened to this song for the first time, I got teary. I could relate to every single lyric.

Somehow, this song brought me out of something I had been fighting for a long time. It reminded me that how God sees me matters and that should reflect in how I see myself too.

As I listened, different images kept playing in my head. So I reached out to my guys, shared the vision, and we pulled this together.

Thank you @thesammieolajide for pushing me to actually do this. And thank you @greatmantakit for creating such a beautiful song ❤️🥺

Hannah and I had just woken up from an after-Sunday-service nap in the evening and I was glued to my phone(saw the news that Ogogo died).

She came to the bed I laid on and asked “Tomi, why are you frowning?” I said nothing. Then she goes, “are you mad at me?” I responded “no”, while still focusing on my phone. She quietly stood up and left where I was.

What you see in this video was what came after.

She had been asking that question for about a minute before I hit the record button. She probably thought I was mad at her. I wasn’t. I had to record this because this almost sums up US in this friendship. How we reassure each other, especially Hannah that constantly needs one.

For context: we say “I love you” to each other after every conversation, especially when it’s a call. Doesn’t matter if we talk 10 times a day. We’ll say it 11 times, even. It’s our thing. Always has been.

For someone that loves friendships a lot, I became a lot more open and vulnerable with unashamedly loving my friends after I met Hannah. It was the first time I realized I could have more female friends as opposed to my previous stance.

This is because before I loved her, she loved me first. Before I hugged her, she hugged me first(she gives the best hugs btw). Before I said “I love you”, she said it to me first. I met her and suddenly, my heart got bigger. I realized I still have so much love to give.

It was rare. It felt rare that I didn’t have to do any of that first before reciprocation. It was the first time a friend loved me first and not the other way around. It’s healthy.

Because of this friendship, I have more female friends that I feel safe to be with. It’s why I’ll always advocate for female friendships.

Often times, people see it as cringe to say the words “I love you” to your friends, but I say it’s not. I say it’s normal and healthy. Now, some of my other female friends tell me they love me first before I say it back.🤭

I’m forever grateful for the gift of friendship.❤️

This video is a bit long, but my written words alone weren’t going to give justice to what I had planned, hence, the video.

My mum strongly believes in celebrating every birthday better than the last one, not just a milestone and she tries to go all out on her birthdays.

Trying to make her plans for her birthdays even more better than she planned needs extra attention and intentionality to knowing what she wants, and I and my siblings have been trying to do just that over the years.
