The Green Woodpecker 💚 For three years I’ve been looking for a nesting site. This spring I finally had some luck, and I found a perfect spot to sit and observe this truly magnificent moment in nature. Camouflaged behind bushes, branches and leaves I photographed them. This right here is one of my favourite shots, of the beautiful male, just before entering their nesting hole.

New story is up on my YouTube channel where I show you how I got this particular shot, and many more 💚

Sitting completely camouflaged in the forest, watching the Green Woodpecker come and go from its nest, knowing there are eggs inside… it’s a pretty special feeling.

Moments like these are why I love wildlife photography.
Being able to quietly observe something so intimate, without disturbing it.

🎥 Part 3 of my Woodpecker series is out now on YouTube.

I was out late looking for moose from my car, driving back and forth along the gravel roads, but didn’t see anything.

Then, suddenly, a slight movement behind the bushes along the road caught my eye. I stopped the car and rolled down the window. That’s when I spotted her, standing completely still among the rocks.

I managed to grab a few shots before she disappeared behind the rocks.

A cool and completely unexpected encounter with a female capercaillie! 🐦🍂

Sometimes, finding a woodpecker is only the beginning of the story.

After following the clues from a previous video, I went back to the forest to see what had happened. What I found turned into a much more interesting story than I expected.

My new video is now live on YouTube! 🎥

Some of my favorite spring moments so far in 2026 🌿💚

Spring is an incredible time to be a wildlife photographer. I’ve spent countless hours out in the field, and this season has been especially meaningful as I’ve focused entirely on my own projects, mostly exploring on my own.

Finding wildlife can be challenging when you’re just starting out, but time and persistence make all the difference. This spring, I’ve invested more time than ever before, and it’s been incredibly rewarding. Nature is full of treasures if you’re willing to explore, stay patient, and keep looking.

Wildlife is all around us 🧡

White-Throated Dipper with a beak full of snacks, ready for drop off at the nest 🌿🤍

Right now the local dippers are very busy feeding their chicks! I’ve been spending a lot of time documenting their behaviour lately. It’s interesting to see how efficient they are at gathering food. It usually takes about 5-10 minutes before they return with food, gathered from about 300 meters away from the nest. Seems they have a favorite spot where they find a lot of small fish, worms and other aquatic insects.

The chicks will leave the nest in a couple of weeks where they will continue to be fed by their parents for a while.

I’ve been spending a lot of time with a local beaver family lately, and spring is such a wonderful season for it. The evenings grow longer and longer, giving me better opportunities to photograph these incredible animals ✨

It doesn’t work out every time, but if you position yourself carefully according to the wind direction and stay low to the ground, you might catch a glimpse of them while there’s still enough light to beautifully colour the surface of the river 💧

I’m currently working on a video where I’ll show you how I photograph beavers, so stay tuned for that! 💚🌿
