I am self-publishing a poetry chapbook, a collection that ruminates about wilderness. The uncultivated self that performs as a wife & mother & daughter, just commonplace narratives that inhabit and limit one’s sense of self. Then it moves away from the self and extends to untamed imperialism seeping through our every day lives, ruining our attempts at meticulously resisting and building humane ways to live. It ends with playful pieces that try to tell stories through lists. by @tostaypresent

I am truly honored to be surrounded by creative women and allies. There is something so invigorating about the love and support bestowed by fellow readers and writers who share the same struggles. Salamat sa pagbabahagi ng sarili, at pagbubukas ng sarili upang muli’t muling makilala ang mundo sa pamamagitan ng pagbabasa. Salamat sa pagkatha ng mga espasyong mapagpalaya. by @tostaypresent

Stilling the fluctuations of the mind; energizing the body with the breath. Some of my students’ observations with their body and a couple of mine:
1. They experience back and neck pain relief
2. They sleep better
3. They can now get up from a squat or from the floor with more ease
4. I observe the changes in my students’ breathing as they continue to show up
5. I see them entering challenging poses with more ease, being gentle with their body, paying more attention to proper alignment by @tostaypresent

After teaching yoga for three months, I am back to teaching communication and critical thinking classes. I want to be more loud this semester, and vulnerable. Maybe I can start by sharing some of my personal essays, stories, and poems that are available online. (Here are old works from Anomalous Press, Cha: An Asian Literary Journal, Pinsan, Davao Today, and Rappler) by @tostaypresent

Blessed to have fulfilled my dream of sharing the practice of yoga with friends, mothers, and students. Since I started teaching yoga, I noticed my immune system got stronger. Never caught a flu despite family members and friends getting sick the past months, and my stomach is no longer bloated. I am thankful that I am able to share my poetry to some of my students as well. To nurturing and blooming together! by @tostaypresent

Throwback to when I was given a chance to hold a community class @change.yogafitnessstudio 🌻🌻🌻 Anyone who wants to donate to Liga ng Manggagawa ng San Miguel Integrated Logistics Service Inc in exchange for an online or private yoga class, send a direct message! Or anyone who wants to donate, let’s connect

Workers from San Miguel Integrated Logistics Services Inc. (SMILSI) in Laguna went on strike on July 24 in response to the company’s illegal dismissal of more than 800 workers on July 6. The strike, led by the labor union Liga ng mga Manggagawa ng SMILSI, took place at the San Miguel Corporation (SMC) Santa Rosa Industrial Complex in Santa Rosa City. National-democratic groups under the alliance Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) joined the picket line on July 25 to show solidarity.

SMILSI is a major logistics company that handles dry goods, cold goods, and ready-to-eat products for major brands under SMC, including Magnolia and Purefoods. The corporation is owned by tycoon Ramon S. Ang, who was named the Philippines’ second-richest billionaire this year with a reported net worth of $3.4 billion.

The company placed more than 800 workers on “floating status” after losing a bidding process for its warehousing, transportation, and bundling operations. Management also allegedly forced workers to sign documents without clear explanations. The winning agencies that replaced them are subsidiaries also owned by SMC.

As the strike commenced, workers blocked the entry and exit of vehicles carrying SMC materials and products. The industrial complex houses several facilities, including San Miguel Brewery Inc., San Miguel Foods, San Miguel Foods (RTE), Magnolia Ice Cream, and ArchEn Tech. The labor action was launched following unfavorable negotiations with management at the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB) in Calamba, Laguna.

“It is just for hundreds of workers to bypass legal bureaucratic processes to collectively act and immediately launch their strike as a signal of the intense struggle of the workers,” said Pagkakaisa ng mga Manggagawa sa Timog Katagalugan-Kilusang Mayo Uno (Pamantik-KMU, or Unity of Southern Tagalog Workers). by @tostaypresent

Tried selling my poetry chapbook for a lower price to gather donations for protesting SMILSI workers. 800 workers of San Miguel Corporation in Santa Rosa, Laguna suffered mass layoff without notice. When billionaires are earning millions every day, the least they can do is provide benefits and regular jobs to the laborers who are making them rich! Mangggagawang tinanggal, ibalik, ibalik! Manggagawang kontrakwal, gawing regular! by @tostaypresent
