So much to say about my first time doing pottery with my girl Jahniya!! 😭🤍

First of all, pottery was harder than I thought it would be, especially with these nails. Ladies, do this when you are rocking your natural shorties, please 😂 But I had so much fun getting my hands messy and trying to make something out of this clay!

And of course, I found a Word in it. It was just beautiful to finally put my hands on something I had read about in the Bible. The shaping and molding process is not pretty. It takes work. Sometimes you have to start again. But nothing has to be wasted.

And that blessed me because we are on the Potter’s wheel, too. He chose us specifically, and even the parts of our lives we cannot quite make sense of can be used for His glory. All of it can become part of who He is molding us to be.

And yes, it is that deep!!! You know I had more to say 😂

But also, it is amazing how supporting one another can bring people together in seasons where you may need it the most. Grateful I got to share this experience with Jahniya 🤍

Pottery NYC was an affordable way to experience an activity with such a rich history! Only about $50 pp! I would definitely do it again, maybe outdoors next time, with more time and COLOR!

Check them out and tell them Teona sent you!

Cousin brought the whole nail salon in her bag 😭💅🏽 Custom press-ons and installation wherever we can find a seat. That is my kind of girlhood.

Who is the “I brought everything” girl in your family? 😂

Your best beat starts before the makeup. 💜

A little makeup transformation from my film festival look, but the real work has been taking care of the woman underneath it.

Eating better, moving my body, getting my rest, and making time for me. I am learning that caring for my temple goes beyond what I put on my skin.

I do not know everything about makeup, but as I learn, I am bringing y’all with me. So drink your water, go to sleep, laugh a little louder, and pray. That last one might not come in a skincare bottle, but it is part of how I care for myself. 😂💜

Would y’all like to see more makeup videos? Let me know!

One bite is all it takes 😋🧀🍝

Y’all, this grilled chicken parm sandwich from AJ’s Lunchbox was SO good! The toasted bread and melted cheese were my favorite parts. And ain’t nothing wrong with getting a little messy for a delicious meal!

Go get you one and tell them Teona sent you 💜

Y’all, I think I just found the best jerk chicken spot in Newark… and they sent me home with a whole tasting menu. 😂🔥

I went into Reggi’s Jerk asking to film a video, and Reggie and the team welcomed me like family. Next thing I knew, I was trying complimentary food, everybody in line was getting blessed, and we were all laughing, talking, and eating GOOD.

The jerk had a kick, the regulars felt right at home, and when I asked about dumplings, he offered to make them fresh. Now THAT is hospitality! 👏🏽

Hearing Reggie give glory to God made the visit even sweeter. A good word at church followed by a good meal? Sunday was well spent.

This is just a small taste of all the flavor at Reggi’s Jerk. Stop by, tell them Teona sent you, and if you have already been… consider this your sign to go back. 😂

Stay tuned for more… I still have a few delicious things to show y’all!

What are you ordering first, jerk chicken, or fresh dumplings with oxtail gravy, or salmon Rasta pasta? 👀

Don’t get tired now. You are so close. 💜

Day 17: No te canses ahora.

It has been a while, but we are back. As I encourage you, I am encouraging myself, too. The finish line is right there. Take a deep breath, ask God for strength, and keep going. He will give you the strength to continue.

Some of the blessings we prayed for are already in our hands. Let us take a moment to recognize them.

Save this for the day you need a little strength, and send it to someone who needs encouragement to keep going.

Rooting for your people is an art. Showing up is how you bring it to life. 💜

Had to show love to my friend Jonathan Sandidge for his solo exhibition, “Better Late Than Never.” His work was SO dope. There is something special about seeing someone you know share their creativity with a room full of people who came to appreciate it.

And Newark?! There is so much happening right here. Discovering @cryoutcave and @artapiary was such a good surprise. Spaces bringing art, poetry, music, and community together deserve more eyes, more love, and more people walking through their doors.

Go to the show. Bring a friend. Share the artist’s work. Give your people something to look up from their craft and see: support.

Like Jonathan said, better late than never. Looking forward to more art, more discoveries, and more reasons to show up. What Newark event should be on my radar next? 👀

Up before the sun and still finding reasons to be grateful. 💜

A little makeup, a good lip, breakfast, lunch, movement, fresh air, and a whole lot of thanking God for another blessed day.

Some of my long-day essentials lately:
✨ @maybelline mascara to make me look a little more awake than I feel 😂
🥤 @powerade keeping me going
🌯 @bubbakoosburritos because at this point, I eat there almost every week. Praying for the sponsorship soon! 😂
👟 @brooksrunning for the post-work miles

Ending the day with a little run around West Orange was exactly what I needed. Fresh air, beautiful views, and a rainbow that disappeared before I could show y’all. 🌈😂

Some days start at 3-something in the morning, but I am learning to take care of myself, stay grateful, keep moving, and thank the Lord through it all.

What gets YOU through a long work day? 💪🏽
