Barkley, you filled our lives with so much happiness and joy over the last nine years. You left an imprint on our family that will last for an eternity. I won’t even try to explain how much I’m going to miss you. I just hope you knew how much you were loved while you were here.

RIP Barkley. Barks. Bark Barks. Bestie Boy. 🤍

From day one, he was the love of mine and Christian’s lives. When we first moved in together, I told myself not to get a dog right away. Less than a month in, we came across Barkley. I convinced Christian we should at least go and “look” at him. No harm, no foul, right? But the moment we saw him, it was over. He was ours. They say money can’t buy happiness but, in this instance, it absolutely could.

The beginning wasn’t easy. Barkley was feisty and full of energy and he tested every ounce of patience we had. But time has a way of revealing who they’re meant to be. Soon, the chaos melted away, leaving behind the gentlest, softest, most perfect soul. His transformation still feels unbelievable. We were often asked for dog advice because of the way Barkley behaved, but neither of us could take credit for that. We knew we were given a miracle.

For nine years Barkley has been a steadfast presence in our lives. He moved through our world with a softness that made everything feel a little lighter, through our happiest days and our hardest ones. He was a rare soul, about as rare as getting a Bearcoat Shar Pei.

He was the up-for-anything dog. The quietest dog, despite being named Barkley. The fluffiest, the most loyal and the most comforting companion. He was family. He was a part of every adventure and milestone. He was gentle and stole the hearts of everyone, especially Kapri. We were undeniably obsessed with him and for good reason.

Nine years was nowhere near enough. He deserved more time. Losing him leaves a space that can’t be filled. But what a gift it was to have known him, to have been his people, to have been loved so fully by him and to have had him as part of our family.
 Thank you Barkley, for every adventure, every snuggle, every moment you made better just by being there. We’ll miss you forever, Bestie Boy. by @tour_guide_teddy
