More than 150 people are signed up for an upcoming @connect.hv meetup at @newburghbrewing on Monday, October 19.

ConnectHV is a homegrown community bringing together Hudson Valley creatives, professionals, small business owners, and others looking to make new connections across the region.

The meetup runs from 6–9 p.m. at Newburgh Brewing Company on Colden Street. Attendees can come solo or bring a friend, grab food and drinks, and meet others working on interesting things throughout the Hudson Valley.

The event is designed to be casual and welcoming, with a focus on bringing more of the region’s creative and professional community together in person.

This weekend, the Hudson Valley is packed with something for everyone — from farm-fresh finds to fitness to full-blown fair fun. 🍎🎡

Kicking things off Friday, head to the Goshen Chamber Farmers Market, where local farmers and artisans set up shop at the Orange County Government Center. Fresh produce, baked goods, and handmade goods — all supporting small businesses right here in Orange County.

Saturday, slow it down with a Pilates Style Mat Class with Julie Manna — a trained Pilates instructor and member of the Ulster Ballet Company bringing her dance-rooted technique to a mat class perfect for all levels.

Then close out the weekend big at the 2026 Yorktown Grange Fair, hosted by @yorktowngrangefair — a Westchester County tradition since 1924. Think livestock exhibits, live music, a tractor parade, and old-fashioned fair food, all celebrating the region's agricultural roots.

Three days, three totally different vibes — and that's just this weekend in the Hudson Valley.

What are your thoughts?

During a recent Public Safety Committee meeting, police officials defended the cameras as tools for preventing and solving crimes. Chief Egidio Tinti said Kingston owns its cameras and controls the data, while acknowledging that information can be shared with certain state and federal agencies.

Some city officials and residents remain concerned about privacy, data storage and government access. Critics worry that constant surveillance could be misused or discourage people from participating in protests.

Police, however, argue that the cameras are placed based on crime data and are not intended to monitor people’s everyday activities.

five severe weather alerts are active in & around Northern NJ, the Hudson Valley + Connecticut. These include multiple heat mornings and air quality alerts.

Starting tomorrow afternoon, expect temperatures to be greater than 100°F with an extreme heat watch which according to the national weather service has “significant threat to life or property.”
