This grant supports early-career researchers exploring how Bitcoin intersects with:
💡 Economic justice
🌎 Environmental sustainability
🤝 Financial inclusion
Each award = 1,000,000 sats (0.01 BTC).
Funds can be used for research expenses, travel to present at conferences, publishing, or building open-access tools + datasets.
We especially encourage applications from women, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, first-gen students, and others underrepresented in research + tech.

Did you know that over 1.4 billion people in the world are unbanked?

This isn’t because they’re lazy, irresponsible, or criminal—it’s because the financial systems we rely on were never designed with them in mind. Barriers like paperwork, credit checks, fees, and even geography keep billions locked out of opportunity.

That’s where Bitcoin comes in. 🧡

Bitcoin doesn’t ask for an ID, credit score, or permission slip. Anyone with a phone and an internet connection can participate. It’s not perfect, and it won’t solve every issue—but it’s a tool with the potential to expand equity and inclusion in ways our current system has failed to do.

The challenge for us is this: how will we choose to shape and use this tool? Will we ignore the possibilities—or will we build with them for the common good?
