Alaia turned 1 year old a couple weeks ago, and this was my birthday gift to her!🎉👶🐣🎊🧗🏼‍♀️

I’ve never built anything like this before, but I can say I truly enjoyed the process and the result… and she loved it too! She was trying to climb it even before I finished it, and now she won’t get off until she’s too exhausted to pull herself up anymore.😂❤️
As her grandad put it: “she’s learnt to climb before she could walk!”

Will she even like climbing as she gets older? Probably not, but it felt so natural to gift her something that deeply connects with our lifestyle. And doing it with my own hands in these crazy times of AI, next day deliveries and ephemeral trends was so satisfying!!🤷🏻‍♂️🥰 I’ll add modules to make it taller as she grows up too. She has so much energy that she’ll need a bigger challenge soon!

I may have gone a bit too crazy, as it’s built to commercial gym standards with @euroholds little wooden jugs and @monkeygymcom beautiful pastel holds😅😅😅, so a (short) adult could theoretically climb it too. Taking orders from now on if you want one for your kid!😅😘

Getting up on the rope with the camera is something I haven’t done since the baby was born… and I’m missing it! (Alaia is 6 months old already!🫣🤯 it’s all going way too fast).

Also, some selfish friends are complaining that they don’t have new photos to post 😂. Hoping to fix it soon!

I didn’t think I could do this… not so soon!
•
Yesterday was a pretty emotional and unexpected day. It’s been less than 4 months since I entered that operation room because of a freak leg injury. Then spent 2 and a half months lying down on one side before re-learning how to walk… yet somehow, yesterday I managed to send 7a again!
I’m extremely surprised, because I did it first go, on a route that shut me down 2 years ago (when these shots were taken).
•
It’s funny that I still can’t sit down for more than 5 minutes straight because of the pain, yet I’m back to climbing, surfing and hiking (Norway was a proper test for my leg)… and playing with Alaia without physical limitations. There’s still a long road to full recovery ahead, but motivation is high after this, and I can dream of getting back up to my top level again!

This is just one more small step towards that taken in Ramales De La Victoria by @tpe.climbs

I had serious doubts about bringing my camera up there and trying to shoot the eclipse… but I couldnt be happier with the result! And with the fact that Alaia will have these as a reminder that she was there with us!

It took me a while to process August 12th, both iterally (I can’t shoot, edit and post on the same day anymore👶🏼) and figuratively speaking.
•
I’ll be posting the rest of the photos from that afternoon next. We decided to go climbing, and then found a nice spot to wacth the total eclipse. Everything I can say would be an understatement, but our expectations were blown away by the experience!
•

Sometimes the best experiences and trips come from brief sparks of inspiration. For us, climbing in HaLong Bay was a seed deeply planted in our brains after reading Lynn Hill’s book “Free Climber” and seeing one particular photo: the best climber ever, up on the wall of one of the thousand islands of the bay, with a stunning backdrop!
•
We decided we had to experience that for ourselves, and although we didn’t get Lynn’s beautiful weather, we managed to spend a few days hopping around Lan Ha Bay (a beautiful corner of HaLong Bay, far from the overcrowded cruise ship routes).
•
We’d definitely recommend spending some time in Cat Ba island and exploring all the climbing available in the area! (If you get the right tide, it’s also amazing for DWS!)

Climbing trips look a bit different lately… in essence, nothing’s changed, but we’re all adapting. Except mom, she still climbs harder than everyone else!🧗🏼‍♀️🐣🛘

Our little one loves being out there and hanging out at the crag. Maybe because she was already doing it when she was just weeks old?😅 or maybe because we have amazing friends who make everything easier? Could be both, but she enjoys it as much as we do… so we’ll keep doing it!😊❤️

Boulder scouting for @climbnamibia in the immense playground that is Spitzkoppe! There’s endless bouldering potential in the plains around the massive granite domes. Finding and testing cool problems for Climb Namibia Festival 2026!

And this harsh environment and rough granite requires taking good care of our skin with @cruxclimb products: chalk, tape, skin repair balm… you name it!

The team is in Namibia! And they just repeated the multi-pitch with the coolest abseil ever: “Goldfinger” (21, 6b+) on Rhino Horn, Spitzkoppe.🇳🇦🧗⛰️

@fertruji99 was doing exactly the same abseil one year ago, and it became the poster photo for @climbnamibia second edition!
