Hello everyone :D ! I was feeling vocal today & decided, let’s talk about gender expression! I love being a girl that dresses like a boy! Or am I? A girl that dresses like a boy? I mean usually a woman wouldn’t go out of her way to shop in the men’s section of the store, wear baggy & oversized clothes or sag. That “usually” being a decade ago.

As I’ve gotten older I’ve struggled with how I feel in “men’s” or “women’s” clothing because of how I’ll be perceived, but mostly how I’ll perceive myself. I think Shakespeare handles this topic well, having characters cross dress and express their sexuality, not directly, but noticeably. Viola, from Twelfth Night sticks out like a sore thumb, a girl hiding in men’s clothing for comfortability, still confused with herself at the end.

I still hold that feminine part of me so near and dear especially as a Black woman. I wouldn’t even say there’s a masculine part of me, just someone who likes to dress like “man” or a “woman” depending on the day :) taken in Drip Nation by @tracee.eee
