It is always a pleasure to watch my friend @princeton_james soar using his gifts and the fact that he makes space for others to join him in learning about the industry through his extensive and impressive list of friends is a blessing to us all. I truly enjoyed reconnecting with my film and TV community here in Memphis at Princeton’s Creative Exchange event featuring the incomparable Felicia Pride, Showrunner of the Netfilx #1 series A Different World sequel. I’ve long followed Felicia and admired how she supports Black Female Writers over 40, her “Honeys” as she calls us. And I’m proud to be one of them. And knowing that her hit show was picked up for season 2 already is just a bonus. Her writer’s journey shows hard work and betting on yourself pays off. Memphis turned out to show @feliciapride the love she deserves for her accomplished career. Bravo! Be encouraged, writers. Your voice and your stories matter. #ADifferentWorld @itshoneychile @princetonjamesproductions by @traceeroderick

Dolly was a true Tennessee Treasure. A beauty. A boss. An icon. There will never be another like her. I got to visit Dollywood for the first time last year. Such a wonderful place to keep her spirit of kindness alive always. by @traceeroderick

Humbled to have been invited to judge the 2026 Miss Alabama’s Teen Competition this past weekend where I met Miss America 2025 Abbie Stockard, Miss Alabama 2025 Emma Terry and Miss Alabama’s Teen 2025, Addison Shoemaker. Our distinguished panel of judges included: Tiffany Bittner, Christy Booker Rogers, Austin Crabtree and Candy Cohen Reid (Miss West VA 1981).

The Miss America Opportunity provides millions of dollars of scholarships and leadership training to young ladies each year. Competing in the Miss America Opportunity helped fund my education. I simply could not have afforded it without MAO. I became a part of the sisterhood as Miss Memphis 2000 and have been mentored and found forever friendships including Jauna Ellis, Ani Ross, Dr. Jennifer Caudle and my heavenly sister Tasha Binion Cox amongst many others. Therefore, I’m honored to give back to an organization foundational to my being. If your heart feels called, please consider volunteering, buying a ticket or telling a young lady in your life about a Miss America local near you. https://missamerica.org

A big thank you to The Board, Committee and Volunteers of the Miss Alabama and Miss Alabama’s Teen Scholarship organization for allowing me to help change the lives of young ladies in the great state of Alabama. We go where we are called to do all the good we can in the time God has to offer us on this earth. Thank you for the blessing of pouring into these young ladies at a time when we need unity, joy, hope and positivity more than ever before.

Congratulations to Miss Alabama’s Teen 2026 Grier Feldman and the 37 other outstanding delegates who graced the stage at the incredible Thompson High School in Alabaster, AL. Special thanks to Judges Chairman Mr. Kevin Hill and Assistant Judges Chairman Mr. Robert Noah for their exceptional VIP hospitality. They treated us like royalty all weekend. True gentlemen. by @traceeroderick

Tonight I got to meet multi-hyphenate author @KwameAlexander at a book signing in Memphis moderated by the equally genius @imakemadbeats. Kwame gave us lucky fans a peek into his writing process, his love and grief for Nikki Giovanni, how bossanova and Panera are pivotal to his craft and how Garth Brooks and Ghana once lit a story spark. I felt renewed. When I was a stay at home mom I used to take my kids to the public library in our small town and check out books and spend hours lost in play and wonder and dreaming…one of our favorite authors was Kwame Alexander. We admired his poetic words and the beautiful illustrations, some of them created by the incomparable @KadirNelson…Kwame let us know that sometimes a blank page has so much meaning.

I cherish these moments with celebrated writers because it affirms that it’s possible- to live and create with purpose and as Kwame would say to love books and to know you are the greatest…his confidence was catching…

Go get a copy of one of his 42 books or watch his TV show on Disney+ (The Crossover) based on his award-winning book.
