Every detail matters right down to our choice of ignition start panel. With our father daughter Miata build having become a dedicated track car it was time to add some cool features along with the safety upgrades . One of these pieces was our ignition start panel from @longacreracing .

So many firsts for both the platform and myself as a driver, which of course led to so many growing pains. But gosh darn it we made it to SOLO Nats this year! Making it back and actually putting down some competitive times was the ultimate goal. I really never thought I'd make it out this year after losing the turbo, plus moving and starting a new job in a new city.

Got the car put together at about midnight the night before driving 22 hours to Lincoln. Loading up the car the next morning, I slammed the trunk shut, in a rush, with the wing half together (endplates were drying with fresh paint). The 2nd element snapped its mounts and the 3d printed brackets. I managed to fiberglass everything back together quickly and had some spare 3d printed brackets that I originally printed to fit a new endplate design. The mounts cured beautifully in the truck bed on the drive up. My original wing design has some shortcomings, another of them reared its ugly head on the drive up. Without the extra mounting holes from the 2nd element, one of the wing endplates flew off with the threads from the main element it was attached to... If you look closely, you'll see the diamond plated aluminum sheeting we ended up using to rebuild the wing. With the help of @gnhatten , we managed to cut out the endplates and get everything installed as the sun was setting on paddock.

Test n tune was the next day at 8am, 1pm, and 6pm. I had 3 sessions to make up for 5 months off from driving this thing with 3 major changes to the car (turbo, wheels/tires/front aero)... No pressure. Thankfully I picked up a 4th test n tune session from a CFR buddy, much appreciated and needed. (Thanks Don!) Day 1 on the fast flowing east course I absolutely shocked myself with my first run. The car is FAST. I coned away my 2 fastest runs and struggled with turning into the cones with the extra grip the car has on the front. I've been battling understeer since I first made the wing, so my lines and timing are a little off with the new setup. It is the most aggressive wing you can get for the BRZ/FRS/86. I am absolutely in shock at how well the car is balanced with the new splitter. VERY excited for the future. by @trackprepperformance

Just over here making safety look cool with @lifeline_fire_usa

Progress has been slow but steady as family time always takes priority. However, we’ve been finding brief moments here and there to get some of our safety needs taken care of and mounted as we continue are post cage reassembly.
•
With the sky truly being the limit of what we may end up doing, regarding racing our Miata, we wanted to make sure we address as many “rules” and “tech” requirements as possible . While the FIA rain light may not be a requirement all around it’s a simple addition that adds visibility and safety on track . With that said we do plan to keep the car registered for the occasional lap around the neighborhood or local meet up so we decided a concealed mounting point with a quick release license plate from @rtheorymotorsports would be the best of both worlds .
•
Regardless of what level of racing we do fire safety is not one area to skip out on . While yes this was put off for a bit it’s finally time to get a full fire suppression system in the car . Now that we’ve decided on a location it’s time to start plumbing the lines and cable pulls.
•
We still have some reassembly work to do but we are close to being back on track and cannot wait. Our father daughter Miata project continues to grow and we have big plans. But first safety .

Successful first day of Solo Nats considering I've had a couple days worth of seat time with the new aero, wheels, tires, and turbo. Threw 2 seconds away on my first 2 runs and had to back off for a clean 3rd run to finish out the day. I'm just happy to be here and have the car running. Balance feels crazy good, let's hope I can make up for some lost time tomorrow morning. by @trackprepperformance
