October hits different when you’re a mother who has had to learn how to live in a world without your child physically here. Child Death Awareness Month isn’t just another month on the calendar for me. This is my life. This is a loss I carry every single day.

I will always say my daughter Reagan's name. I will always honor her life, her memory, and the love that will forever exist between us. A child may leave this earth, but they never leave a mother’s heart. Time doesn’t erase them. It doesn’t make us stop missing them, loving them, or wondering who they would be today.

So this October, please remember the children whose lives ended far too soon. Remember their names. Remember the mothers and fathers who wake up every day carrying a piece of their heart in heaven. And if you know a grieving parent, don’t be afraid to mention their child. Hearing our child’s name doesn’t remind us that they died—we never forget that. It reminds us that you remember they lived. by @tracyd504

I stepped onto the mat in Costa Rica representing Team USA, won my first international match, and faced the strongest competition of my journey so far.

I came home with more experience, more motivation, and a clear picture of where I want to go next.

This was a beginning, not an ending.
