That GooGoo dolls track just wasn’t my 90’s 😂

Watching the brilliant Secondary: The Musical by @checkpointtheatre tonight got me thinking about school and that era of life. When everything felt like an experiment, trying out different opportunities, shy but curious, dealing with survival but make it fun, brimming with optimism & deep sadness. Moving out from under the adults to be the adult.

So much undocumented save for some of randomness here. Wish I’d valued more of the ways I showed up for myself and kept more memories yet also grateful that I got to grow up in this pre algorithmic, recorded reality x by @tracyjoyphillips

Didn’t make any plans knowing I’d be on retreat this birthday (24/7) but feeling so grateful for friends who made the effort to celebrate it pre and post, and who sent beautiful heartfelt messages, thank you for the love and being in my life x

Thought of what would be a good way to share my gratitude for another turn around the sun, a privilege not to be taken for granted and thought of some insights that feel alive for me at this time. May they be in service to someone else’s expansion and growth 🙏

- Take the time to acknowledge your gifts and the gifts of others and share them, all are so precious and what brings beauty, authenticity and illumination into the world
- Be more curious, less definitive. Questions create so much more possibilities than statements. There is always more to understand or know in any situation
- Energy cannot be destroyed, which means everything, including us, is a continuum and so there’s no place to get to or finally arrive, just a constant state of becoming. How does that awareness change things?
- Whatever is going to happen is going to happen, we can only do our best. The more we try to control outcomes, the less joy we experience in the process, the less content we are, the less grace we can receive. Let go, let be!
- The soul speaks much softer than the ego and seems to communicate from the heart space.
- What if all we fear is caused by a disconnection to our wholeness, what if nothing is missing?

Wishing everyone the awareness and space to know and feel nothing is missing ❤️

I think you can learn a lot about a place and its people from their fashion, product design and visual merchandising, which is why a city’s concept stores are one of my first ports of call. After years of visiting Bangkok, it’s less a study and more the appreciation of unique, well-made pieces with a story, which makes shopping their local design and vintage excellent go-tos 🙌

Thailand has a wide array of homegrown designers. Many established ones have their own retails stores but still choose to be part of the selection put together by popular malls like CentralWorld and Emsphere.

Here are a few of my fave multi brands /vintage/ stand alone stores

* Loft Eyes Thonglor - Soon to have an even bigger store in Siam.

* Comma And at CentralWorld - Stocks funky brands like Pony Stone, Blackdog, and The SRT to name a few

Upstairs check Thai Thai at level 2 for a handful of higher end Thai brands like Fah Chak and Archive 026.

* Hide at Ari - more unisex options than Loft Eyes, a few of the same brands and others like their own in-house label H by Hide, Rumon and Your Aries Baby

* For vintage there’s Past Perfect at Song Wat, a must visit street in general where brands are choosing to do their pop ups.

* Att 19, is a little enclave of store, art galleries and cafe. Art, furniture, lifestyle, vintage, stunning space.

* Kitttakhon is just around the corner from Att 19 and offers 3 levels of local craft and furniture . So wanted the stools and chandelier!

* C43 was a lucky find, not listed on google but right next door to the record shop Entertainment Project so search for them. Found some great vintage here at really good prices, many 50% off.

For stand alone shops:
* For pleats for days and good prices for the quality, there’s Gongdid.

* Matter Makers - contemporary streetwear, loud, fun

* HDDK Vintage store for designer vintage

* One store I didn’t make it to was @thenongrak - open on weekends and by appointment, one of a kind knit heaven - next time for sure!

Some things just come together naturally. After decades of friendship, it felt like the right time to bring our creative worlds together, pairing handcrafted hats with elevated everyday basics, each expressed in our own way.

Bringing the pieces to life is a reconnection of familiar faces and old friends, with friendships spanning three decades. Each brings their own distinct personality and sense of style.

Friends first, before brands. This coming together of handcrafted hats and elevated everyday wear is an extension of what we each love and create, expressed through our respective crafts.

This campaign brings together old friends with over 30 years of shared history and too many dance floors between us. Familiar faces, each bringing their own distinct character and style.

No two people wear things quite the same way. It’s the personality and little details that make each look their own.

So many Singaporeans train in a creative field and never end up pursuing it. Usually it isn’t for lack of talent. It’s worry about whether it can be a sustainable career, or the pull towards “safer,” better-paying jobs. They’re not taught how a creative practice can be designed to support them.

Tangent Creative Edition was made to address exactly that. It’s a four-week, in-person programme for young creatives who want to test whether their practice, skill or idea could become a business, whatever the creative field. You’ll define what a good living means for you, work out how your idea would actually earn, and find out early whether entrepreneurship is your path. Knowing that before years of guessing is invaluable. Tangent takes no equity and charges no fees, and some financial aid is available.

I joined their info session panel because my own creative life was built by doing, not through formal training. Alongside Ong Kian Peng and Tiah Nanchyuan, each with a very different practice and business, the evening made one thing clear: there’s no single path to making it work. What matters most is knowing your why. It keeps you going when things get hard, and helps you decide which opportunities are worth saying yes to.

14 years since you left this plane, 3/10/12. Hard to believe it’s been so long; it doesn’t feel it. How strange that I think about you more now than when you were alive. The difficulty communicating, the distance of living in different cities for most of our lives, the mental health challenges that weighed on our relationship: all seem so insignificant compared with the love I feel now, and yet they made it so hard to be close when you were still here. I wish that hadn’t been the case, but I’m so grateful that you live so purely in my heart, and that we managed to heal even though you’re not physically here.

It was a crazy work day today and I’m writing this in a cab home at almost 2am, but I wanted to commemorate you: for us, for me, and for anyone carrying wounds from a parent, or who lost someone and wished they could have resolved more. Repair is always possible. It’s never too late. They live on in and through us 🤍

Been wanting to rep my piece of @godsavedthequeen wearable art/ scarf - covered in the cutest illustrations that take you on an Easter egg hunt of weird and fun discovery and landed on wearing it this time as a toga top! It’s sheer so wore a matching blue tank underneath and just tucked one sleeve in - ghetto style but think it worked out great and has got me into a scarves-as-tops roll. It’s like getting a whole new top wardrobe weeeeee! by @tracyjoyphillips

This song, these lyrics did just that, reminded me of who and what I am and what it is to woman in my own expression.

Simple joys of singing, dancing and sharing in circle - age old wisdom and medicine for millenia to come home to our bodies, regulate our nervous systems and balance/ elevate our mood. It’s too easy to underestimate these methods, that they’re too simple, that we have more important things to do, places to be.

Very grateful for the reminder and space to express and be, held by the wild and wondrous earth mama goddess that is @leeliugoddessma, whose complete embodiment of all things feminine, fearless and free gives permission to all around her to do the same.

Each time I sit in one of her women’s ceremonies it peels away another layer of shyness, grows the area of my comfort zone and softens my need for protection. How amazing it is to be able to hold all this softness and strength at once.
