We are looking for our next citizens! We have made every mistake a community can make. Fought over decisions. Lost people. Started over. Figured out, slowly, what actually supports us in building this thing. Some things are consistent: the land is growing, the DAO governance structure is proving itself, and more and more amazing humans keep showing up. 🌿 A little glimpse into our weekend at TDF! Last weekend, we joined the Abela Feira with a stand to share about our mushroom farm and learn more about water in the region. We asked our neighbours about local wells, and listened to stories of rivers and springs that once flowed year-round in Abela. Grateful for the connections made with people from the town and municipality, and for all the knowledge shared. Back at TDF, some of us spend some time painting walls, listening to music, and taking care of our space together. Even on days off, the energy to care for our home continues.. Feeling very grateful for our enthusiastic volunteers and all the hands and hearts that make this place come alive! 🌱 Re-rooting & Re-indigenization workshop On 23–25 October, we’re opening the doors of Traditional Dream Factory for a 1.5-day workshop with A’ida Al-Shibli. A’ida Al-Shibli, an Indigenous Bedouin born in occupied Palestine who has lived in Tamera for the last two decades, invites you to explore our relationships with ancestry, land, and belonging. Together, we’ll meet the land and trees of TDF, and ask ourselves what it means to re-root in the places we inhabit. Survival Foundations is two nights in the oak forests of south Portugal with Melina and Joshua, in Alentejo, Portugal. The venue is one of the sites we know best - Traditional Dream Factory. When I first learned how to provide for my first 5 survival needs - just between myself and the earth - I could not see the world as I had before. For better and for worse, everything changed. TDF in vites you to join us for a third edition of Permaculture 101 🌿 This is not a PDC (Permaculture Design Certification), it's designed as a hands on learning expereince that will give you the foundations to start thinking and creating like a Permaculturist, and take home parctical skills for your own projetcs, gardens or future dreams. The course will be given by Mika and Ofer, who are the masterminds and hearts behind our TDF permaculture plan. They are patient, inspiring, and gifted teachers who explain even complex topics in a clear and accessible way. Learning with them feels less like being taught and more like being invited into a shared exploration. As far as they’re concerned, it’s the best way to learn: by doing things together. The course is taught in English and will include 14 full days with hands on practice on the land in the morning and theory in the afternoon, with plenty of space for rest and expereincing the other parts of communal living. Turns out building a village together is equal parts big conversations, experimentation, figuring things out as we go… and a healthy amount of play 🌱🤸🏼‍♀️ Our annual Citizens Gathering brought 55+ humans together at TDF to reconnect with what we’re building, question what needs questioning, dream about what’s possible and spend a week actually being in community together. Because regeneration isn’t only about restoring land. It’s also about how we relate, collaborate, make decisions and build new ways of living together. We’re joining together to experiment and together create the present and future of TDF. We’re so grateful to everyone who joined, and contributed to create this amazing experience together.
