Trafford AC's Luna El Hassan had the honour of representing Sudan at the Arab Power Games, in Egypt.

Although still U16, Luna battled really well in this U18 Championship, coming a very creditable 5th. Luna showed her competitive spirit by claiming 3 PBs in the final.

She will be competing in Addis Ababa later in the season, in the African Championships.

@englandathletics U16-U18 National Champs 2026

We had 4 athletes from the squad competing.

@socksndbooks was up first in the U18W Discus. Despite picking up a muscle strain in training she was able to throw 42.93m to win. And because she would have still been an U17 EA were also awarding medals for that aswell. So it was double Gold for Beth🥇🥇

@ben_roberts_throws was up next in the U18M Discus where he had his best ever series with 3 throws above 50m finishing in 6th place with 50.64m

@sebwhiteley.throws was next competing in the U18M shot. After a couple of no throws he maintained his composure to get through to the championship rounds where he managed his best throw of 15.42 to finish 6th (4th U17)

And lastly @johnnyjonesuk in the U16B Shot put who despite a kit bag mix up and not having his shoes or implements he threw a new PB of 19.72m which happened to be a Meeting Record and because he is U15 still it was also a new National Record beating the old 1 by just 1cm. Which meant he also ended up with the double Gold 🥇🥇

Big thanks to @_jess_wilkins Johnny's Trafford team mate who was kind enough to lend her throws shoes to Johnny even though they were a couple of sizes too small they did the job.

Then after that it was straight to the discus where he threw another PB of 48.51m to finish 5th (4th U15)

Well done to everyone that took part.
