And that's almost a wrap on the first season of Beginner Twerk Class!😁❤️

Look what these beautiful ladies learned! We go through creating mind muscle connection, doing drills, building confidence in the body, and learning new moves.

We've been learning the foundations of twerk and how to move to new styles of music including Jersey Club, Miami Bass, and more from the south and east coast of the USA!

Thank you to all three of these lovely ladies for showing up and showing tf out. I'm in awe of all of them!

---

📍If you want to join us for our last class of the season, come today at 8pm to Makui Dance Studio.

⚠️Reminder: All classes will pause in Makuti Dance Studio during October - we'll have a new schedule up for November.⚠️

Did you know??? I have a group chat for all in-person students and interested who want to dance in any of my classes - that way you stay up to date with where I'm teaching, and what I'm teaching.

Comment GRUPO and I'll message you for your number and add you babe! taken in Palomino, La Guajira by @trainwithayomide

"Movement" gets thrown around like a cute buzzword when at its true nature, it is inhabiting the body.

Therefore learning movement is inhabiting the body in increasingly new ways.

Before my accident I could get low with no problem. Afterwords, I couldn't. Under reels of women dancing, I'd heart the comments complaining of how we could never do that with our bad knees.

Then I remembered I never related to that before. And I damn sure don't have to relate at my young age.

Movement is a choice, so I chose.

Having a wealth of knowledge in biomechanics and strength + mobility training is useless if not applied. I train others, but how could I if I can't apply it to myself?

So I did (and continue to do) the isometrics, strength, and mobility work. I infuse it into everything I do. When walking up and down the stairs I train power and mobility. When walking down the street, I train extension and alignment. When in the ocean, I train resistance and stability.

That means when I'm in the dance studio, I can use that newfound ability and apply it to movement with music - my favorite.

This was a huge huge HUGE win! Over a years I'd spent unable to support myself below a certain angle of knee flexion.

On bad days, I'd swipe with a lil attitude past people dancing on their knees, remembering the days I could.

If that's you, come work with me!

I'm taking on just three private training clients in person in Palomino, Colombia or online.

Comment below if interested or send a DM to see if we're ideal for each other.

Being knocked to the ground by a vehicle and unable to stand or walk after does something to you.

I couldn't ever imagine willingly staying sedentary and not taking advantage of the fact I have my bodyyyy.

After any of the dance, exercise, and private training sessions that I lead, I remind my clients to thank their bodies for the ability to move.

It grounds them into a deep appreciation for their body, after pushing the limits and coming face to face with their weaknesses.

The biggest misconception I hear is "I cant do it, it's not in my genes."

What baby do you know that came out the womb twerking? This is a learned movement and any learned movement can be...learned!

Remember that muscles are highly adaptable, the brain is highly adaptable. Put the two together and you'll see why training in the gym works, why you can lift heavier each time, and why you can learn new dance moves.

Come to class at Makuti at 8pm on Friday for FUNDAMENTOS DEL TWERK and I'll teach you everything I know.
