There are plenty of “mushroom churches” out there where ceremonies happen. We all know they exist. I may or may not have one 😇

But this was not that!

No ceremony.

In Curanderismo, the elders teach us to build a relationship with the fruit of the land before we ever receive from it. You learn how it lives, how it functions and what role it plays in the ecosystem. Without that understanding, you don’t really know what you’re receiving.

That was that teaching in real time. I wasn’t receiving the medicine. I was meeting it as a living being, in the room, wide awake, before it ever becomes a ceremony.

That’s where the relationship starts, and most people skip it.

We carry energetic contracts—some conscious, some placed upon us in childhood. They shape our patterns and dim our light. But we can clear them. Name the agreements, thank them for the lessons, and release what no longer serves. With each release, our field loosens, colors brighten, and choices become true north. It’s not about erasing who we were; it’s about choosing who we’re becoming. Present-ment, future-possible, energy aligned.

This book is called Yerbas Medicinales — Cómo Curarse con Plantas. It was printed in Mexico City in January 1951, one of only 2,000 copies.

I did’nt inherit the rite of passage to practice medicine from my direct lineage, but I did from respected elders. Now, holding this book in my hands feels like being handed permission from my line — to remember what was always part of me.

One of the most profound moments I have witnessed: A mother, on her hands and knees, crawled to hold her baby.🥹🫂

Every parent is on their own journey. So is every child — even the grown ones still quietly needing to be held.

Repair isn’t about rewriting what happened. It’s about understanding for many there was no malice, only two people doing their best with what they had.

This is what it looks like when the ego steps aside long enough for love to do its work.
