POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
THE DADS will make its WORLD PREMIERE in March at @sXSW.

@littlelightprods caption:

This project was a labor of love inspired by our Emmy-Award winning short documentary of the same name (@netflix, 2023). Four years ago, five fathers came together on a fishing trip in Oklahoma to share in a common purpose of being dads to trans and gender expansive kids. Now, as their community grows, so does anti-trans legislation and hostility nationwide. The fathers are forced to make an impossible choice: stay and fight or flee the U.S..

A heartfelt thank you to all of the dads, our partners at @thedadsfoundation, @59thandprairie, @aliforneycenter, and @elevateprize, the entire film team and everyone who has touched this important film. At such a dark moment in our country, we are strengthened by the courage and brotherhood of these fathers and honored to share this film with the world.
We will never stop standing up for our children.

Hi Everyone 👋🏻

I want to take a minute to reintroduce myself!

My name is AC and I use he/him pronouns. I'm a physically disabled, intersex, transgender innovator whose mission is to cultivate affirming spaces for all people. My approaches center empathy, humanity and intersectional cultural responsiveness.

I have a family, 2 cats, a job as a professor, this whole Transplaining consulting platform and a nonprofit, @creditsinstitute , dedicated to educational and health equity. I'm busy working REALLY HARD to create a more just world for all of us.

I'm anti-violence in ALL forms.

So please, before you come at me with hateful rhetoric, remember that I'm a human out here fighting for your rights to belong at work, in school, the hospital, the doctor's office and in society more broadly.

Peace, Love and PowerPoints,
AC (he/him) ✌🏻

TRANS + INTERSEX SOLIDARITY!

Today is Intersex Awareness Day.

There are more Intersex people in the world than there are trans people. Yet, we're a smaller community because the medical establishment pathologizes and hides us...from ourselves and each other. Often times, people (like me!) don't know they're #intersex . We're told things like "you have a disorder" "you have extra tissue" and "you have a hormonal imbalance" instead of "you're intersex."

Doctors actively cover up what they do to intersex bodies. Today, I learned what a term that’s been used about my body by medical professionals for YEARS (probably) means.

Intersex people in America and Canada have fewer rights to bodily autonomy than anyone else. While the trans community makes strides and suffers political setbacks, the intersex community seems barely noticed by society at large...hidden in plain sight. Every single anti-trans healthcare bill pending/passing has "carve outs" for harmful pediatric intersex surgeries. These carve outs exist so that doctors can continue to carve parts out of our bodies in the interest in upholding the bogus binary.

Gender affirming healthcare is *so much more advanced* than intersex healthcare. Yes, they are often overlapping. And, intersex people have our own medical needs. I’m incredibly grateful to have access to gender affirming care. Intersex care is very inaccessible.

We need to stand, loudly, in solidarity with one another. Trans folks...please post about intersex rights and healthcare! Our fight is the same...we all want autonomy. None of us want nonconsensual surgeries and all of us want to live in a world where we can be our full selves without shame or stigma.

Learn more about the community:
@interact_adv @intersexawareness @intersexjusticeproject @clubintersex

Read some amazing books about intersex realities:
@xoxy_alicia @pidgeon @notuncommonesther

When we stand together we have more people to embrace.

I love a good embrace.

Shirt proceeds will be donated to @interact_adv - see link in stories/bio!

I’m AC Goldberg (he/him), an intersex/transgender dad featured in The Dads Movie. I’ve spent years in community with cisgender parents, teaching others how to show up for their trans and gender diverse kids. The majority of parents learning, supporting and advocating are moms.

It’s time to change that, and assure our kids feel loved by everyone at home. Through The Dads Foundation, I help fathers and male caregivers understand the trans experience from my own perspective as both a trans person and a parent.

I’m supporting Transcend Australia’s DadSpace this GiveOUT day because kids deserve more than just “support” from their parents. All children deserve to be nurtured and loved for exactly who they are!

I’m AC Goldberg (he/him), an intersex/transgender dad featured in The Dads (full length documentary). I’ve spent years helping cisgender parents show up for their trans and gender diverse kids. But so often, it’s the mums doing the learning and advocating. Dads, it’s time to show up too!

Through The Dads Foundation, I help fathers and male caregivers understand the trans experience from my perspective as both a trans person and a parent. That’s why I’m supporting @transcend_australia’s DadSpace this GiveOUT Day.

Your donation will help turn what DadSpace dads have learnt into practical guides and videos, giving more fathers the tools to be in their child’s corner.

If you can, please donate. GiveOUT will double eligible donations, up to the matching limit.

For Carlos 🧸

I would say I’m tired of carrying the weight of my friends’ ghosts, but the reality is that they lift me up and remind me to be better. To be as good as they were. Carlos was one GOOD guy. Never afraid to show his pain, excitement, grief, anger, awe…never afraid to express himself. Always so present, listening so intently. He had this gift of being in the moment, raw, emotional, goofy…real. It sounds so cliche to say, “it’s hard to believe he’s gone,” but I think that feels extra with Carlos because he was just so *present.*

Carlos, haunt me. Take this as an invitation to mess with me for all eternity, because I know we’ll both get a laugh out of that.

@thedadsfoundation won’t be the same without you. We love you so much. You’ve made such a difference in so many people’s lives.

For everyone who wants more Carlos, he’s so beautifully himself in @thedadsfilm - find some time to spend with him. His kids were unbelievably lucky to have him as their father, and all of us dads are better for knowing him.

Carlos, I’ll remember your details. Always. by @transplaining

A lovely slice of life before I post more significant updates next month.

This week I had the honor of attending a beautiful wedding in Perth! Being with @the.nbsp & @mikehu_89 on their special day was incredible. Celebrating queer love is always so uplifting. The venue? @wamuseum … stunning. I spent all day learning, immersed in art and history before the party.

I also visited Wadjemup (Rottnest Island) where artifacts from Aboriginal people embedded in paleosols date back to between 10,000 and 49,000 years ago. Pre colonization it was a significant meeting place, ceremonial site & hunting ground for Whadjuk Nyoongar people. Wadjemp translates to “place across the water where the spirits are.” Post colonization it was a prison colony for indigenous people (& others) - its darkest history the Aboriginal forced labor camps. It holds Australia’s largest recorded Aboriginal deaths in custody, with at least 373 Aboriginal men & boys buried in unmarked, shallow graves.

The Nyoongar people believe that the rising seas trapped spirits underwater (when the land became an island 7000 years ago, after the last ice age). Over time, these spirits attached themselves to whales. Whales carry these spirits to Kooranup, a spiritual resting place in ocean west of Wadjemup.

I watched humpback whales breaching to the west & touched the Indian Ocean, hoping to communicate my respect for the traditional custodians of the land, past, present & future. I also met some quokkas, the primary tourist draw to the island. They’re cute.

Back on shore I visited Fremantle Prison, another reminder of colonization’s devastating local & global impact.

I’m so lucky to live this life & commit daily to learning and loving to my fullest. Enjoy cute animal pics & vids of places so beautiful they don’t seem real. & remember:

1) You are on indigenous land
2) Queer love is transcendent
3) Stories will only live on if we tell them

Congratulations Niall & Michael. Wishing you a lifetime of loving and learning. 🩵💍🩷

Something else that bothers me about the SCOTUS ruling is that Becky Pepper-Jackson won’t get a $5 million dollar a year speaking contract about having lost her right to race with her high school friends but Ril*y Gan*s gets MORE than that funded by right wing hate groups to talk about what a loser she was in college.

Of course I would only want that for Becky if she wanted it for herself, but I feel like this needs to be said aloud.

Thinking of you, Becky, and every trans kid out there. You all make this world a better place.

For Basil 🌱

Learning about her death was more than a gut punch. What a beautiful human gone from this earth far too soon. I was so lucky to have known them.

If you knew Basil, send this to everyone you know who did. Bring her voice back into the air around you. Be surrounded by her warm laugh. Embraced by her huge smile.

Trans people deserve to grow old.

To be clear, this is not a “sorry for your loss” moment. This is everyone’s loss. This is humanity’s loss.

Can’t get healthcare. Can’t get accurate ID. Can’t go to the bathroom. Can’t play on a school sports team. Can’t drive. Can’t get our research funded. Can’t go to the hospital. Can’t go anywhere feeling safe. Can’t. Can’t. Can’t.

TDOV exists to show folks the possibilities - that trans lives are part of the past, present and future.

But with the crushing restrictions on our rights and freedoms, I would LOVE to see less “No Kings” today and more screenshots of donations to trans mutual aid funds, cis people wearing “trans people belong” shirts in public and overall visibility of cisgender allies. Because y’all are becoming completely invisible.

Our safety matters more than your comfort.

Drop a comment about a specific way you’re showing up for trans folks today, because we have to show up every day.
