I am devastated to share that Jason Price passed away over the weekend, and so many of our hearts are shattered in a million pieces.

Sing a song for Jason. Plant a tree. Hug a cat. Remember him for his kindness and wit and laughter.

I beg all of you to live your best life. Turn up your favorite songs. Go on that trip. Love fully and with empathy for every single person (and animal) you meet.

"Buckets of rain
Buckets of tears
Got all them buckets comin' out of my ears
Buckets of moonbeams in my hand"

Thank you in advance for giving me and our cats and his family time and space to heal. I'll post info on the arrangements when we know more.

Little Miss Nori Fluffernutter will always be with me thanks to @em_atropa ❤️

So grateful for Em's care, conversation, and creativity. Losing Nori during an already traumatic year full of loss has been really difficult, and I can't express how therapeutic it was to get this memorial tattoo today.

Even more special is that I worked with Em many years ago at City Paper when I was Art Director and they were a kick ass comics journalist. Nori's tattoo reminds me of Em's comics and I appreciate all of the little features, especially the fur pouring out of her ears and paws :) by @trashyleesuh

I was star struck this afternoon attending @yonaharveywriter's book launch at City of Asylum's Alphabet City. If you're a Steel City poet — or a poetry lover! — chances are high you've also swooned over Yona's poetry over the years. And you're not alone. The room was full of so many well-known local writers who came out to support. Yona, who spent many years in Pittsburgh, began her lovely conversation with @khirstenlscott by declaring to the room that the city would always remain her literary home. I knew I was in the right place when Khirsten praised a phrase in the book: "unbuckle your grief." 💕 Can't wait to read her full book.

During the event, I also finally met Brian Broome! Caught up with @magnificentmarcel! Spotted Toi Derricotte! And I saw the amazing @kilololuckett, who shared that Yona was one of the earliest @alma_lewis_pgh supporters. If you're not familiar, ALMA | LEWIS is an incredible experimental, contemporary art platform for critical thinking, constructive dialogue, and creative expression dedicated to Black culture. The space spotlights the work of Black artists and writers, and they're celebrating their grand reopening in a brand new building later this month. Swipe to my last slide and grab a ticket and join me in supporting this amazing asset too. by @trashyleesuh

Bellevue Forward, the host of this month's @pghartscouncil monthly Creative Hive event, held this evening at @lincolnavenuebrewery's Beergarden, invited several Bellevue artists and organizations to share their work to give all of us a preview of some of the great creative community located in this cute walkable borough located just north of Downtown.

One of the artists on display was @marthaknelson, whose artwork was exhibited by her daughter Yelena. When Martha moved away from Pittsburgh, Yelena convinced her not to donate her artwork to Goodwill and instead let her take on the task of selling her original pieces. Her husband and she beautifully and carefully title and package Martha's work for sale: all original pieces, no prints, featuring a mix of landscapes, portraits, and more. Every month, her mom — now in her 80s and still cranking out new work — mails them a fresh batch of paintings for them to sell.

Tonight, I added "Pencil Jungle Cats," created with pencil on paper, to my collection of cat artwork. by @trashyleesuh

Artist Ruby Waldo compares the utility markings scrawled on urban sidewalks to dance notations, a secret language that indicates not only the hidden infrastructure of electric cables, gas lines, water mains, and sewage pipes, but as a means to direct the movement of pedestrians.

This morning I joined Ruby and a group of other curious folks for Utility Notion, a guided walk through Point Breeze, part of @shiftworkspgh's new artist-designed tour series.

I've always been so curious about the meanings of these strange markings and loved hearing Ruby explain the significance of the colors and shorthand writings, from learning that the notations are made in biodegradable paint that fades over time to joining in on Ruby's excitement when we spotted a bright color, "a fresh can of paint!"

So glad I forced myself to leave the house on a cool Saturday morning to join in today's performance, as we danced up Point Breeze sidewalks moving our bodies to the rhythm of the notations below our feet. by @trashyleesuh

I'm going to miss you so much, Nori 💔

Today I said goodbye to Nori aka Nori Girl aka Fluffernutter aka Sweetie Pie aka my tiny 18-year-old yellow-haired bestie, the cat who immediately chose me as her human, and the cat I always dreamed of having.

For the past 14 years, ever since Jason and I adopted her and her late brother Sammy from Animal Friends, Nori has slept beside my pillow nearly every night, letting me drift off holding her paw. What an incredible gift it's been to have her by my side.

Jason had a song for every cat, and Nori's was older than any other. I don't think there are enough words in the English language to describe how quiet my world has become this year. by @trashyleesuh

Happy 9th anniversary of loving Banjo 💕

When Jason and I adopted Banjo from Animal Friends, he immediately walked out of his carrier and made himself at home, strutted up to the third floor, explored every room, then jumped right onto our laps and never left. Love at first sight, and he's remained a lover boy to this day: he's the kind of cat that not only snuggles up to you, but demands to be under the covers too.

We adopted him so Skippy would have a friend, and we named him Banjo on the car ride home from the North Hills, part in dedication to our love of music and part in honor of former Pittsburgh Riverhounds player Kay Banjo, our favorite at the time, admittedly mostly probably because we loved his name.

Banjo's constant affection has been a huge help for me over the past few months and he is getting his due recognition too: the last photo in this slide will be one of the images included on Jason's headstone. by @trashyleesuh

Preordered this absolute beaut at the end of April, have waited nearly five months, and it finally came today! Only the LP is so big, it doesn't fit on my cheap record player 😭

Yeah, yeah, I can stream the song, but Tom Waits just hits extra hard with the vibration of the needle. At least she's pretty. by @trashyleesuh

I love artwork that makes you smile every time you walk past it. This is one of mine: a piece by late Pittsburgh-based artist @dannydevinestudio.

(The late) Jason and I purchased this when Danny had a show at (the late) Gallery 4. We were so excited for this one bc it was a few blocks away from our apartment, and we both were big fans of Danny from getting to know him on (the once great late) Twitter.

Too many lates, but grateful for pieces of art to remind me. by @trashyleesuh

The yArt Sale at Pittsburgh Center for Arts & Media is always a great event to not only buy affordable local artwork, but to meet a ton of Pittsburgh-based artists and arts lovers. This year, I had the privilege of again sharing a table with @pghartsmedia teaching artist Saihou Njie who invited folks to join him on a community art project by adding to a painting on a drum head. It was so cool to see the painting progress and change in fun new ways with each brush stroke over a three-hour span.

I told Saihou I'd love to see a solo exhibition of his own paintings on drum heads in the future! He's also experimenting with some really cool jewelry I hope he releases soon.

We also shared a table with @riversofsteel, who has two great upcoming events you should def check out: a sugar skull painting workshop on September 10, and the Festival of Combustion on October 3.

Both @kyrie_here and I were there repping the @pghartscouncil. Thanks for stopping by and chatting with us about the arts! I hope we start seeing those Artsburgh stickers we passed out pop up all over town :) by @trashyleesuh
