Day 2. Road trip day. 🚐

Phnom Penh to Siem Reap today and it was so fun to just be on the country roads watching the Cambodian countryside roll by. No rush. Just good conversation and actually getting to see this country instead of flying over it.

So excited for the next few days. We are about to dive deep into the local culture and I cannot wait to share the journey.

More to come. 🇰🇭✨

Day 1 in Cambodia. 🕯️🪷🦋

Cultural awareness does not always mean sunshine and rainbows. Sometimes it means standing in the truth of what actually happened somewhere, no matter how heavy that truth is.

We went at the Royal Palace. Beautiful. Full of history. And we also went to Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and Choeung Ek, one of the many killing fields where 17,000 lives were taken under the Khmer Rouge regime.

I am someone who feels energy deeply…and to try to describe what I felt today…

At Tuol Sleng I found myself alone in one of the rooms at one point. The heaviness was immediate. So many lives lost. So much hatred absorbed into those walls. It literally sat on my chest.

Then we went to the killing fields. Fragments of clothing still surface from the ground as you walk. And yet somehow there was this strange peaceful serenity around the water. Butterflies everywhere. I kept imagining the innocent souls who never got to leave that place. But the vibration there was different. Softer. I still do not fully have the words for it.

Two places. Both tied to the same dark chapter. And yet they carried completely different energies.

Genocide should never happen. Anywhere. To anyone. Learning about it in different corners of the world is how we make sure history does not quietly repeat itself.

History in every form teaches us something. It connects us to other cultures. It opens our eyes.

As we begin this journey and look toward everything beautiful still ahead of us, today reminded me why I do this work the way I do it.

Connection with self. Connection with others. Connection with nature. Connection with the world around us.

All of it matters. Especially the hard parts. 🤍

The Ember Women panels have become something special to me. This group of women…we sat down and realized one woman’s parents knew the other’s in-laws, two of the women grew up in Maine, synchronicities are always happening!

It’s wild! But if you want to know about the upcoming panels, there is one next week on October 6th from 1-3 pm and these fine ladies in the picture here will be on a panel November 10th from 1-3 pm.

Check out the events link in bio for more details.

I don’t do motivation that fades by Monday morning. 🎤

I keynote for leaders and teams who want more than a good feeling for a week. They want perspective. Honest conversation. Tools they will actually use.

Every talk is built from real life. I bridge the boardroom and the basecamp, drawing from a decade of leading executive teams, facilitating leadership development and guiding people through immersive expeditions around the world. Nothing generic. Nothing off the shelf. Every keynote is shaped around the room I am standing in.

One thing I hear again and again afterward. It didn’t feel like a keynote. It felt like a return to intentional leadership.

If your team or organization is ready for something that actually sticks, I would love to talk. Link in my bio. 🌍

Big birthday year for the family. 🥳

Dad turned 70. My brother is turning 30. And I am creeping up on my own milestone decade, though I still have a few months to live delightfully in this one. 😂

Here’s the thing. We are scattered. Dad is in Denver. My brother is in Atlanta. I am in Salt Lake. I get to see my dad about once a month if I am lucky. My brother? It had been way too long.

So we did what any reasonable scattered family does. We all flew into Portland, Oregon and adventured our way from the mountains to the coast and everywhere in between.

Huge thanks to my brother, who has never once missed a good band within a fifty mile radius of wherever he is standing, for tipping us off to the Infamous Stringdusters. 🪕

And huge thanks to my dad, who is the one who actually pushed for this whole trip to happen in the first place. 🫶

Time moves fast. Life moves faster. And somehow between mountains, coastline and a very good bluegrass show, we all got to just be together. No agenda. No occasion needed other than the fact that we are all getting delightfully older. taken in Oregon by @traverse_beyond

I just received this story from a past student of mine. I’m grateful to be doing this work and helping people feel more prepared when they are outside adventuring. 🫶⤵️

In spring of 2025, I took your wilderness first aid course. That August, I went on my annual 8 day backpacking trip with the knowledge learned and simple FA kit.

On day three, after transversing a cliff, and navigating a slippery drainage with downfall and multiple creek crossings, I reached the bottom and stepped into the creek one last time onto mossy rocks, my feet went out from under me, and on landing, my hand wedged between rocks while my body continued falling.

It was evident that my wrist was broken by the immediate swelling and angle of the hand. After assessing the situation while soaking my hand in the stream, I saw a stick and after breaking it in two was the perfect form to use as a splint with a nice curve at the end to support my hand.

I secured the the splint and remembered more padding is better so I was able to wrap the unit in my puffy with a multipurpose tourniquet/strap and used my bear spray harness as a sling, securing it to my chest with additional medical wrap.

My friends studied the map and we knew I could not navigate the way we came nor continue the way we were going so we were able to contact S and R over my IPhone to get a plan. There was a nearby trail cutting across to the highway and it was determined that I would start hiking the 9 miles, 2500 ft elevation gain out and meet SR as they would hike in.

My friends took turns carrying my backpack and we met SR after about 7 miles where my friends headed back and SR resplinted my arm and escorted me to the highway and 30 miles to the hospital. It took 12 hours for all this to play out, an hour or 2 were just coordinating with SR through relays and questions. They set my arm at the hospital and I drove back to PC the next morning and had surgery with  plate installed the next day.

All this to say, I used the training from your class to quickly and confidently stabilize the injury and successfully get to medical attention with a good outcome.

Thanks for putting these classes on! by @traverse_beyond

This trip has never really been about an itinerary for me. It is about connection. Whatever that looks like for you. The ocean. The food. The people around the table. A conversation that goes somewhere real. All of it is welcome here.

I have watched what five days in this space does to people. The way shoulders drop. The way conversations deepen. The way someone arrives a little guarded and leaves completely different.

I am sharing this because I love this trip and I want the right women in that villa with me this October. If this has been sitting in the back of your mind, even quietly, I would love for you to come.

DM me. Let’s talk about it. 🌊

I couldn’t wait to leave. Now I can’t wait to come back. 🌲

Maine. Alabama. New Hampshire. Georgia. Oman. Chile. Colorado. Now Utah.

As a kid you do not realize what roots actually do for you. You just want to leave. I lived in 8 different homes in this tiny town growing up and honestly I could not wait to get out.

Now I come back every single summer and I understand completely.

I was born on January 2nd in the middle of a snowstorm. The first baby born in my town and the two surrounding towns that year. My great grandfather Thomas Chute was the first settler of this town. And I was born on its 250th anniversary.

There is a whole family history woven into this place that I did not appreciate until I had spent enough time away from it.

There is a specific energy I feel the moment I arrive. Grounded. Rooted. It feels like a vacation and a return home all at once.

There is a longing in me that wants to hold onto this forever. Even though I know change is inevitable. Even though nothing stays the same. And maybe that is exactly why it matters so much to appreciate this moment for exactly what it is right now.

This lake. This water. These people. This town that raised generations of my family before me.

I have built a life around helping people leave their comfort zones and go find themselves in the world. And what I have learned again and again, both in my own life and in watching others, is that stepping outside of what is familiar is often exactly what teaches you how special coming home really is.

The going does not take away from the roots. It deepens your appreciation for them.

Maine will always be home. No matter how far I travel or how many places I call home along the way. 🤍

As I reflect on what this trip really means, it comes down to one word. Connection. 🤍

Connection with yourself. Connection with others. Connection with this incredible place.

That is what these five days in Punta Mita are all about.

If you are feeling called, I would love to have you. 🌊

I take people off the beaten path.

After years of travel I have realized checking a box is not what I am after. The landmark is just the bonus. I have noticed a lot of places actually start to look the same.

What never looks the same is the culture. The people. The connection.

That is exactly what this Cambodia trip is. I am partnering with Kids Play International, an organization I trust completely and one that is already deeply woven into the local community. You are not just visiting Cambodia. You are being welcomed into it.

Four spots. Link in my bio. ✈️

Only 4 spots. That is it. That is all I am offering for this trip.

I want to be honest about why I am so confident in this one.

I have worked closely with Kids Play International. I know this organization and the difference they make. I know the impact they have. I know what happens when a group shows up ready to learn and connect rather than just observe.

I have traveled through Southeast Asia many times. I understand the culture, the rhythm, the depth of what this part of the world has to offer.

And I know what happens when the right group, the right partnership and the right intention come together in one place.

That is the magic I am building this trip around.

Eight days. Angkor Wat. The Killing Fields. A KPI Play Fair Community Day. An elephant sanctuary where former working elephants now roam free. A VIP night at Phare Circus. Real connection with a community that will change how you see the world.

Four spots. That is all there is room for.

If this has been sitting in the back of your mind, this is your sign. DM me or head to the link in my bio. ✈️🌍
