Working together for healthy watersheds ๐Ÿ’™ ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ’ง

From the Kortright Centre in Vaughan to Bolton and Albion Hills in Caledon, our second Humber River Watershed Tour brought partners together. We looked at what it takes to keep our rivers healthy and our communities safe and resilient.

Floods and erosion. Stormwater. Habitat. Urban forests. Biodiversity. Cultural heritage. Climate resilience. Every piece connects, and every partner matters. ๐ŸŒŽ

Thank you to the key speakers, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, and the municipal, provincial and partner organizations for helping shape a healthy, resilient and connected Humber River watershed for all residents.

๐Ÿ“ฃ Learn more, subscribe for updates and get ready to share your feedback on the draft plan in early 2027. Visit our website to learn more.

Step outside today. Your mind will thank you. ๐ŸŒฟ

There's something that happens when you get outside: the noise quiets, the pace slows, and things start to feel a little more manageable. It's not complicated, but it's real.

On #WorldMentalHealthDay, it's worth remembering that nature has always been one of the simplest tools we have for taking care of ourselves. A walk through the trees, the sound of water, the feeling of open space around you, it doesn't have to be a big trip or a long hike. Even a few quiet minutes outside can shift something.

TRCA Parks are open year-round, and they're right here, beautiful, accessible spaces to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with yourself whenever you need it. ๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿฆ๐ŸŒŽ Tomorrow is World Migratory Bird Day!

Every year, birds travel incredible distances in search of food, warmer weather and suitable places to breed. Along the way, they depend on healthy habitats where they can rest, refuel and continue their journey.

๐ŸŒฟ Tommy Thompson Park (TTP) is an important stopover for migratory birds travelling along the Lake Ontario shoreline. Through bird monitoring and habitat conservation, TRCA helps us better understand these incredible journeys and the importance of protecting the places birds depend on.

This World Migratory Bird Day, letโ€™s celebrate these incredible travellers and do our part to protect the places they call home!

What an incredible day at Morningside Park! ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿ’š

A huge thank you to everyone who came out for TRCA Adventures of Salmon, from exploring the booths and meeting our team, to walking the trail and catching a glimpse of salmon in action. It was a day full of discovery.

The migration is still going strong! If you're out near local waterways this fall, keep watching and share your sightings with TRCA's monitoring team so we can track the run together.

Happy World Animal Day! ๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿฆ

From the tiniest bee doing its thing to a hawk riding the thermals above the valley, the animals sharing this region with us are pretty remarkable.

And they're not just interesting to look at. They're doing real, essential work keeping our ecosystems healthy and balanced.

The parks, ravines, and green spaces across the Greater Toronto Area are home to an incredible range of wildlife. Today is a good reminder that protecting those spaces means protecting the creatures that depend on them too. ๐Ÿพ

Your support helps make sure they always have a place to call home. Visit our website to donate.

Fall migration brings an incredible diversity of birds to Tommy Thompson Park โ€” if you can pick them out! ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿฆ

Fall birding can be a little trickier for two reasons. First, many birds are sporting much more subtle plumage outside of the breeding season. No need to stand out when youโ€™re not trying to attract a mate!

Second, many of the birds youโ€™ll encounter this time of year are transient species โ€” just passing through for a week or two before continuing their journey south. That means you may not see them often enough to recognize them right away.

But thatโ€™s part of the fun!

Test your bird ID skills with five different fall species spotted at Tommy Thompson Park Bird Research Station this past week. A couple arenโ€™t too bad, a couple are a lot trickier, and one isโ€ฆ well, just plain mean. ๐Ÿ˜…

How many can you identify? Let us know how you did! by @trca_hq

๐ŸŒณ Growing a greener Toronto, one tree at a time!

TRCA and @TorontoPFR are celebrating the impact of the Toronto Tree Cover Project, made possible through the City of Torontoโ€™s Community Planting and Stewardship Grant.

This year, more than 1,400 native trees and shrubs have been planted with community members across private lands in Toronto, helping restore more than 4,000 square metres of urban greenspace! ๐ŸŒฑ

A huge thank you to @CityofToronto and our amazing partners for helping make this work possible, including @TCDSB, @DownsviewPark, @HumberCollege, @TMU and @HomesFirstTO.

Together, weโ€™re growing a healthier, greener urban forest for Toronto. ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒ‡

Over the past several days, TRCA hosted commemorations in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. These moments of gathering, reflection, and learning provided space to honour Survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and acknowledge the lasting impacts of residential schools on Indigenous communities.

We are deeply grateful to our partners, including Four Colours Drum Circle and True North Aid, along with the staff and volunteers who helped bring these commemorations to life. Their leadership and support made these important opportunities for reflection possible.

While September 30th marks a National Day of Recognition, reconciliation is an ongoing journey. We remain committed to listening, learning, and working with Indigenous communities. ๐Ÿงก

For more resources on how you can support reconciliation efforts, please visit True North Aid's website.
