POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Delivering this to The Department of Health TODAY! Join us for the @hervoiceproject protest starting at St. Stephens Green @ 12pm details are on the Her Voice Project page tagged above.

”Dear Jennifer Carroll MacNeill, Department of Health @roinnslainte, NWIHP, HSE @irishhealthservice, HIQA & Government of Ireland @govie

Picture this, your loved one has lost all hope, they suffer in pain every day, they can't eat, pick up their child, drive to the shops, attend school, college or work. They have lost out on everything they had hoped for in life. They cry as they explain how emotionally and financially devastated they have been by endometriosis/adenomyosis/PMOS or related conditions and their symptoms. You urge them to go to the doctor and assume they will receive emergency care.
You wait for an update and the following examples will show you what they are facing. Is this okay? Can you please hold these medical professionals accountable for the amount of trauma that is being caused to patients every single day. This is barbaric, not "progress".

Before we begin, we do not want to hear another copy and paste answer. We also don't want promises of a response and then radio silence. Try responding like a human being because we have to break our own hearts every time we share our stories, and you keep making us do it over and over again. A real conversation would be most welcome. We don't need you to do any more PR campaigns or plan events, we need these "professionals" held accountable. No amount of training days and education is going to help us when this is what we are walking into at our most vulnerable.

Can you please tell me if you think this is progress? Are you going to do anything about this? We are being repeatedly traumatised by uninformed "professionals". Please help! This is a national crisis.
We were devastated reading all of these stories. Quotes directly from medical professionals, GPs, consultants etc and even those who claim to have a "special interest in endometriosis". That should be your reaction as well by the way, heartbroken, devastated and ready to take immediate emergency action."

**NOTE: THE PROTEST BEGINS AT STEPHENS GREEN AT 11AM AND WALKS TO LEINSTER HOUSE FROM THERE, I AM SILLY AND TIRED SO I LEFT THAT OUT 😅**

This is a story all about how you need to support the @hervoiceproject protest this Saturday the 21st of March, 11am at Leinster House. You can attend in person if you are able, if you know someone with endometriosis or just want to shout with us, your help is very much needed!! Those of us that are well enough to be there need the extra energy.

If you are a patient there is good news, you can attend the protest virtually too! You can find all of the details on how to participate on the Her Voice Project Instagram 🫶

I am exactly 2 weeks away from the day I fly to Greece to receive, for the first time in 13 years, expert care and excision surgery to treat my endometriosis and attempt to get my life back. Do I get nervous sometimes? Yes of course, but I am not scared, because what is happening here is more terrifying to me. I can't attend this Saturday, because if I catch a flu or virus the surgery risks being cancelled. This comic and the virtual protest will be how I'm shouting instead.

All I can think about is how lucky I am to be able to get this treatment right now. There are so many who are unable to for a million reasons and I will never stop screaming from the rooftops for that reason. We shouldn't have to take a 4hr + plane journey away from home, but much is needed here before we feel safe handing our bodies over to this country.

Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk 😅💚

"Take a nice normal photo with your art" 🫣 I never trained to behave like an artist in an exhibition. 😅

It was kind of surreal to see my work in the very gorgeous @luangalleryathlone amongst so many incredible artists as part of the 'Winter Pride Art Exhibition' from @heartlandspride_athlone 💚

Here I am out in the wild to prove I don't spend all of my time hiding in a cave like a goblin.

My favourite thing about this is that a piece of work that shows the day to day of living with Endometriosis is being seen by more people. I really hope it started some conversations over the two weeks it spent in Athlone.

I am forever grateful to @robyn.murrayboylan who had the magical idea to do the exhibition for @hervoiceproject which was where this was first shown. I was in a total creative block and she woke me right back up out of it. This piece was created solely with the Her Voice Project exhibition in mind and I'm so glad it's getting out in the world some more since. 🥹

Special thanks to @suzenmusic for the photoshoot 🤣 We cannot be serious.

Some thoughts on all of this chaos. Massive thank you to all of the wonderful legends who have given me so much support, advice and just generally making me feel like I'm not insane for the last week.

Here is the info I mentioned in the video when referencing why it's important that we recognise how much power these organisations have over the life of an artist in Ireland:

*They must have had work commissioned, acquired or shown by government, local authorities, museums, corporate clients, within a “recognised” gallery or a visual arts bursary, residency, materials grant, or other Arts Council/Arts Council of Northern Ireland funding (which are given out by the very same people). This is also true to the new iteration of the Basic Income for the Arts requirements.*

"Proof of Arts Council Bursary(s) or Project Award(s) from the last 3 years (Applicants may submit the letter or email from the Arts Council or screenshot of their ARN page showing granted funding applications / grants) which can then be verified with the Arts Council"

"Proof of Local Authority Arts Office funding for your practice from the last 3 years – this includes Bursary(s), Project Grant(s), Commission(s) for Percent for Art, Awards, Residencies, Music Generation as ‘music educators’, Mentorship programmes."

"Proof of public funding for your creative practice from the last 3 years, for example: Culture Ireland, Creative Ireland (as an artist only), Screen Ireland, Arts Council Agility Award, Arts and Disability Connects Award, Arts & Health Award, Artist in the Community Award (CREATE)

Multiple items will be accepted for up to 3 different awards."

"Proof that you have had work included in published collection(s) / curated exhibition(s) / programmed event(s), by professional arts organisations (in the last 3 years).

Amateur or community led exhibitions or events are not considered eligible proofs."

This is only a small set of examples.

Support the arts 💪🏻💖

A month after the protest and I still cannot get over how incredible the 15th of August was!

From getting ready in the morning and very anxiously watching to make sure the humidity % did not rise.

To getting up on the steps of the department of health and not only get to speak about the community, but also then after to shout out a list of advocates was a surreal experience.

I'm always going to be grateful for these protests,
Why?
Because for once I don't feel alone, I see how many of us are out there shouting, and I realise how many would have wanted to be there but cannot.

I'll see you all again on the 3rd of December

For now, I cannot believe it's already been a month

With plenty of time ahead of the protest on December 3rd I wanted to put up this post.

Please tag your favourite accounts below, and please tag your accounts.
We want to be shouting out everyone who makes a difference because while the protests are about making change they are also about the community.

I personally have found great help in reaching out and in the knowledge of other people with endometriosis, and I would have never gotten to where I am without it.
So please tag away.

Advocates please share!
Lets get this to as many people as we can so that every voice can be amplified.

PLEASE tag brands, media, politicians, performers ANYONE.
Lets get the word out nice and early folks and get everyone there!

Location, time are still to be announced. We just wanted the date to be out there so all of you, lovely beautiful people can come 💛

We need you to make noise for us before the protest.
Talk about it,
Share it,
Get people to know about it.

We need proper healthcare.

Women should NOT be told they are too complex for healthcare and left to manage that themselves.

Women should NOT be suffering due to the callous egos of healthcare workers.

Women should NOT be begging for mercy and relief.

Women should NOT be told they are too young for medication or surgery.

Women should NOT be taking their lives because there isn't any healthcare for them.

Women should NOT be told for years that the problem is in their head not physical.

Women should NOT be forced to wait years for a diagnosis only to be operated on by a doctor with a 'special interest' (rather than a surgeon with years of training and experience in endo.)

Women should NOT be forced to go abroad.

And you know what we really should not be doing.

Calling a condition that can affect the nerves, the spine, the chest, all organs, muscles and skin, eyes and everything else...
A PERIOD CONDITION?!?!?
Needs to stop imidiatelly.

Again we would love to see you there, in the meantime please please tag anyone you can💛 by @treadoodles

Thank you for the wonderful opportunity to participate in the HVP protest.

Thank you for the women's courage to share their stories—each one was incredibly moving, and at the same time, I felt a growing anger that women had to go through all this in a 21st-century European country.

I haven't found the courage to speak today, but I want to assure you that as a mother of a daughter with endometriosis, I know exactly what journey each of you has been through. Each of your stories is heartbreaking and awakens my deepest anger against those who have allowed women's health to be so neglected.

Minister for Health, are you finally going to do something about this, or will you continue to pretend the problem doesn't exist, or worse, that it's been solved? Listen to women's stories; they don't lie.
We left you flowers and letters, even though you blocked our path with barriers.

But we can't be stopped, and we won't stop until every woman receives real treatment from specialists, not "special intervention" doctors and thieves who extort money from women and blatantly lie to them, claiming they've cured them!

1 in 10 they say…
1 in 7 they say …
But where do these statistics come from if the wait for a diagnosis sometimes lasts decades?

But I can assure the Minister for Health that every woman who has experienced systemic neglect by the health service has family and friends, people who will fight even when the woman herself has no strength left.

And we will fight for every woman you treat in such a brutal and inhumane way.
You won't be able to sweep this under the rug anymore.

And no barriers will stop us!

And to all the "supporters" from Sinn Féin – where were you?
You had the opportunity to show up and send the message that you actually care, but do you really care?
Or maybe all you want is to promote yourself by using endometriosis as a campaign slogan? by @treadoodles
