Mack will randomly yell out "FAMILY GROUP HUG" and we all have to drop what we're doing and dive in. D is loving the swarm more each day, Sean gives fuzzy smooches, and I soak it all in.

After watching "Forky asks a question" a few days ago, there's been an added "surprise rib tickles!"

I'm not saying be like Mack, but don't be unlike her, because it makes things pretty great.

Last week, Mackenzie and I joined the Dare2Tri community at the Victory Lap gala, and we had such a wonderful time cheering on one of our favorite organizations!

Mackenzie has been part of the @dare2tri_ KidsTri paratriathlon camp the last two summers, and the people behind this organization are something special. They bring the equipment, the training, and the encouragement to every athlete, whether that's a kid born with a disability finding her strength alongside her peers, or an adult discovering a new outlook through movement after an injury - and everyone in between.

At the gala, we got to share our experiences, show off some of the gear, and connect with supporters who don't always get to see the difference they make. They make it possible. Every bit of it.
We're grateful to be part of this team, Mackenzie as an athlete and me as a parent (maybe a guide someday!). Can't wait to keep growing alongside these athletes, coaches, volunteers, and supporters. 💙

👀 Yesterday @wgnnews and @erincolleenmcelroy shared clips from our adventures and LLLDAM meetups at Brookfield Zoo, and we got a little teary watching.

🧡 They featured the Limb Difference Collective Foundation, because our co-founder, Ali Barnum, was named a WGN Remarkable Woman @remarkablewomennxst earlier this year, a recognition from @nexstarmediagroupinc Nexstar Media Group and WGN.

Now they're looking for next year's Remarkable Women in the Chicagoland area. Do you know someone showing up for their community? Nominate her! And take a minute to look at the other organizations that have been recognized. There are so many good people doing good work right here 💕

Over the last few months, LDCF was presented to the 100 Women Who Care Medinah chapter.

This week, we got to invite them into our world. 💛 We shared what goes inside a Hugs-in-a-Box, the stories behind why we created them, the events we've been honored to organize and why community matters so much to families navigating limb difference and limb loss.

Then came a moment we weren’t quite prepared for…

🥹 They chose LDCF for their quarterly giving, and with the help of matching donors, their collective support was truly extraordinary.

For a small nonprofit like ours, this kind of support means more opportunity to reach families, build connections, expand outreach, and continue creating programs that remind families:

You are not alone.

If you’ve never heard of 100 Women Who Care, it’s a giving circle where women come together quarterly, each contributes $100, a few nonprofits are nominated, and the group votes together on where their collective donation will go.

There are chapters all over the country. Search “100 Women Who Care” + your city to find one near you!

Every kid deserves to play with a toy that looks like them. @lego has been making that happen with Autumn, a character with a limb difference, and the LEGO Friends sets and show for the last few years, and this weekend we got to experience Lego fun in a whole new way!

🦄The Unicorn Cafe pop up in Chicago was such a fun adventure that we weren't going to miss! Seeing a scene from LEGO come to life in the neatest way made our day and getting to play with so many new sets was the cherry on top!

The cafe staff was so excited that Mackenzie got a new Autumn and were super engaging, leaning in to play with the kids (and this LEGO-loving mama) with all of the new sets! So many families were having such a fun time!

We love the LEGO Discovery Centers, but how can we have this here all the time!

⚾️ Road Trip! We took the 3 hour ride to Springfield, IL to watch professional women’s baseball and meet an athlete Mack could see herself in.

She didn’t expect to leave as the one being asked for an autograph. 🥹

Britt Apgar, center fielder for the LA Queens, has a limb difference just like Mack. So when we found out all of the Womens Professional Baseball League Inaugural Season was going to be played in Springfield, there was ONE player she really wanted to meet.

We had a blast at the game. The MC and Maybelle were hyping up the crowd. Britt didn't start that day but we watched her cheering on the team in the dugout and bullpen. Then we grabbed our Queens merch and waited until after the game.

We got to chat, Britt signed Mack’s hat... and then asked Mack to sign hers.

She told Mack she wanted one of her first autographs because she’s sure she’s going to be a winner. ❤️ Mack froze because no one had ever asked for her autograph before 💕

For a kid, representation can be the moment they realize:

“Maybe I can do this too.”

And sometimes the most powerful part is when someone you look up to looks right back at you and says, “I see something special in you, too.”

This is why representation matters.
This is why access to adaptive and inclusive sports matters.
And this is why we’ll keep showing Mack what’s possible.
