Did you know that when baby flamingo chicks are born, they are almost completely white? 🦩 They get their signature pink color from their mother’s crop milk, and eventually, their own diet 💗

To nourish her young, a mother flamingo’s feathers are drained of some color, so nursing flamingos will be duller than the rest of their flock! 😲

Sometimes all you need is a good hug 🤗

Did you know there no wild alpacas? 😮 Alpacas are domesticated versions of vicuñas, South American ruminants that live high in the Andes ⛰️

Alpacas are very social, gentle, curious creatures and with training can become great pets 💚

Today is Appreciate a Dragon Day 🐉 Meet the Blue Glaucus (Glaucus atlanticus), better known as the Blue Dragon 💙

This tiny sea slug feeds on venomous Portuguese man o’ war jellyfish, storing their stinging cells (nematocysts) for its own defence ⚠️

While its sting isn’t usually dangerous to humans, it can cause skin irritation, so it’s best admired from a distance (as with all wildlife) 🙅

The Blue Glaucus floats upside down at the ocean’s surface, drifting with currents 🌊 This means individuals can travel huge distances and turn up across oceans worldwide 😆

Help protect marine life with the Treecard app! Link in bio to remove ocean plastic just by walking 📲 Our community has already removed over 9 million plastic bottles from the ocean ♻️

Fighting against the current on the first Monday of the year? 😴

Torrent ducklings grow up in fast-moving mountain rivers and instinctively swim against the current just days after they are born 🌊

If they can do it… so can you 💪💚

🌿 Yesterday was World Wildlife Conservation Day, a day to recognize the crucial importance of conservation efforts to protect our planet’s precious ecosystems and animals, as well as the part we can all play in making the world a better place 🌎 Naturally it’s a day that we celebrate every day 💚

This is a Treehopper from the Amazon rainforest of Ecuador with the scientific name Bocydium globulare in the family Membracidae 🌲

An average of 137 species of life forms, like this treehopper, are driven into extinction every day due to deforestation 🌳💔

This “waking popcorn” is a flatid planthopper nymph from the rainforests of Ecuador 🍿

Their name of planthoppers is well-deserved because they can jump about three feet in a single bound 😲

As they hop around to forage or flee predators, their fine fluffy fibers (which are waxy white filaments) act as a cushion to break the fall 😎

An average of 137 species of life forms, like this planthopper, are driven into extinction every day due to deforestation 🌳💔
