“Only when the last tree has been cut down, the last fish caught, and the last stream poisoned will we realize we cannot eat money.” It’s cool to care btw

Climate Tipping Points Explained: The Hidden Thresholds That Could Change Earth Forever

Could Earth's climate reach a point of no return? Climate tipping points are critical thresholds where small changes can trigger irreversible and self-reinforcing shifts in the Earth's climate system. Scientists warn that crossing these tipping points could dramatically accelerate global warming and reshape ecosystems, weather patterns, sea levels, and human societies.

In this video, we explain how climate tipping points work using clear scientific evidence and real-world examples. You'll learn about melting ice sheets, thawing permafrost, weakening ocean currents, Amazon rainforest dieback, coral reef collapse, and the dangerous feedback loops that could push our planet toward rapid and irreversible climate change.

Whether you're interested in climate science, environmental sustainability, Earth systems, or the future of our planet, this video provides an accessible and evidence-based overview of one of the most important topics in modern science.

In this video you'll learn:

What climate tipping points are
Why tipping points matter
Positive feedback loops explained
Arctic ice melt and albedo effect
Permafrost thaw and methane emissions
Greenland and Antarctic ice sheet melting
Amazon rainforest tipping point
Atlantic Ocean circulation changes
Coral reef collapse
How climate change increases tipping point risks
What scientists are doing to understand future climate risks

Lately I’ve been trying to get more steps in and spend more time on my feet, and apps like these not only help motivate me to get outside, they also allow me to connect to the world around me on a deeper level!

🔎 Seek by iNaturalist
Seek is a species identification app that uses your photos and camera to identify any species — including plants, animals, fungi, insects, and more.
They host monthly challenges that makes species identification feel like a scavenger hunt and you can look back at all of your observations! @seekbyinat

🦅 Merlin by Cornell Labs
Merlin is a bird identification app. When it comes to birding it can be hard to catch them on camera, and you might only be able to hear it’s call, luckily the Merlin app can identify bird species using the microphone or the camera on your phone!
It also keeps track of your life list and pairs with eBird! @merlin.bird.id

🌲 Treecard: Treecard is a steps tracker that turns your steps into real trees planted! Your steps help fund efforts to restore biodiversity across the globe!
It also tracks your efforts and gives you an impact report. Plus you get to plant your own virtual forest with the trees you earn to help visualize your impact! @treecard

Do you use any of these?
What apps help you to get outside more?

Happy trails!

The best way to score better is giving yourself a chance at par. Aiming for the middle of the green and walking away with a 2-putt is much less stressful than trying to get after tuck pins and hurt your score.

What a way to end the season 🥲

Played really solid last week, with a dash of luck mixed in. Something about matchplay just brings a different side of me out, I can’t wait to take another crack at it next year.

Thanks to the course staff for the setup and all the people involved, this is always one of my favorite weeks of the year. Onward and upward 🕺🏽

Thank you to my amazing friends for becoming apart of this. We got 8 bags today and will continue to pickup.
.
you can help out too, just go outside and pickup what you see. It doesn’t have to be a lot, but it’s more than doing nothing.
