✨ 영화 ‘나무는 기억한다(The Trees Remember)’ 구요셉(Joseph Ku) 감독“광활한 캐나다의 설원, 그곳에서 피어난 1905년 한국 독립군의 아리아”인적이 끊긴 캐나다 밴쿠버(Vancouver)의 거대한 얼음 호수, 사방을 에워싼 설산 사이로 매서운 칼바람이 몰아친다. 문명과 수 시간 떨어진 영하의 고립무원 속에서 카메라 뷰파인더를 응시하는 한 젊은 한인 감독이 있다. 구요셉(Joseph Ku) 감독. 그는 왜 이 이국땅의 혹독한 겨울 속으로 뛰어들어 120여 년 전, 조국의 자유를 위해 이름 없이 쓰러져간 한국 독립군들의 서사를 꺼내 들었을까.할아버지의 참전 사실을 너무 늦게 알게 된 한 청년의 아쉬움에서 출발한 이 여정은, 이제 국적과 인종을 초월한 20명의 크루가 함께 달리는 거대한 모험이 되었다. 세계무대로의 도약을 준비 중인 구요셉(Joseph Ku) 감독에게서 자유와 희망의 메시지를 들어보았다.
