New #wip @orphanten!

It’s been nearly 3yrs since we broke ground on my backyard studio and quit my day job to play with mud. Despite the hilarious soundtrack, I wouldn’t change a thing. by @trendscaping

Things are not always as they seem.

This is my first flower frog vase in porcelain from 2018. I’d been taking classes for a year and the wobbly top and cracked gallery show my lack of finesse (swipe for video).

The truth: I’ve learned a lot over nearly 5yrs but there’s also so much to discover with pottery. Time flies on IG but it’s only been 3yrs since I left my old consulting gig to hone my craft and less than 2yrs since I got my backyard studio to open @orphanten.

Throughout the years - as a jewelry maker, retail merchandiser, and trend/marketing consultant - I never thought of myself as a creative. Sure, I know photoshop and display but it’s nothing like the satisfaction I get from making artwork with clay.

If it wasn’t for the support of friends/family, I can’t imagine being where I am today - loving what I do and working the hardest I’ve ever worked for the smallest annual net income.

Thank you for following my journey here & @orphanten. I’m grateful for your likes & encouragement for my picture perfect or cracked ceramics (that remind me of process/persistence). And, please continue to support artists and small businesses aside from mine.
