Many years of exciting projects continue this fall with the recently renamed @levey_kwok gallery and the wonderful art community in Dallas, TX. I had multiple works included in a recent iteration of Levey Kwok’s Chambres d’Amis and I had another work in an exhibition @warehousedallas.

THE WAREHOUSE: In Our Image: The Fragile Body in Contemporary Art

Thank you @simonemkrug it was a pleasure to see a work I had not seen in a long time and an even greater pleasure to be paired with Felix Gonzalez-Torres.

“TR Ericsson’s Magic Kingdom combines his mother’s funerary ash with graphite to create a silkscreen image of a childhood memory at Disneyland that is both a landscape and a portrait. The artist sees his process as simultaneously sacred and unsacred, incorporating his late mother’s cremated bodily remains as a material to produce not simply marks on a canvas, but memory. At once macabre and poetic the work itself is not possible without her body.”

The show is a stunning selection of individual works that are brilliantly organized thematically and supported by thoughtful and engaging wall texts. There were so many works I loved, some familiar, many new to me including @marcin_dudek and his powerful tableau, an installation I had never seen in person but long admired.

There is also a powerful selection of works by Yukinori Yanagi curated by Mika Yoshitake. The summarizing language on one of the wall texts hasn’t left me.

A boundary is “not that at which something stops, but…that from which something begins its presencing.”

CHAMBRE D’AMIS

My visit to the Warehouse was followed by an exhibition and a talk at Park House Dallas with Jennifer Klos, Harlan Levey and @evanderauwera where I was able to again see work I haven’t seen before and deepen my understanding and appreciation for my fellow Levey Kwok artists and friends. I was also able to tease a new upcoming project planned for Brussels early next year.

I appreciate all the support and the unforgettable experiences of being included in these rich and diverse contexts.

Thank You! by @trericsson

TR Ericsson @trericsson is an American artist whose work raises questions about art, the afterlife, family, and the bond we have with our ephemeral selves and materials. Often bathed in an elegiac half-light and referencing the death of his mother and the reliquary of her objects and her ash, Ericsson's work asks humility when addressing it, and it is not surprising that it affects as many people as it does: all those who have lost, and all those who persist. He has donated a nicotine-developed screen print to the collection, as well as the screen itself for the archive. This pairing of process-related material and final print makes an incredible addition from an artist I find inspiring and human. by @trericsson

@aperturefnd summer 2026 Secrets Smells Like Print Aaron Schuman speaks with @tbwbooks Paul Schiek about the highs and lows of bookmaking. Thanks for the mention Paul!

AS: Is there an example of a book you’ve produced that fully embraces the idea of the book as an object?

PS: I think Nicotine (2024) by TR Ericsson. TR made these artworks by printing old family photographs onto screens, then passed nicotine through the screens onto paper, making a printed physical object that smells like and is essentially created from nicotine and cigarette smoke. The challenge for me then became how to translate that into a book. by @trericsson

DUCHAMP & COMPANY
CURATED BY FRANCIS M. NAUMANN

Begins
23 April 3pm ET 2026

The artist TR Ericsson created this cue ball with Duchamp’s portrait because he knew the artist enjoyed playing billiards, just as he—Ericsson—has played pool since he was a teenager. Indeed, in the 1990s, he became so obsessed with the game that he contemplated becoming a professional pool player but eventually decided that making art was, at least for him, more rewarding. The game is one that involves extreme skill and, to a certain degree, chance, as you must play in reaction to your opponent’s last shot. Chance is an element that Duchamp thought was an important component of the creative process (just as he had accepted the chance breakage of his Large Glass, which he thought finally completed the work, which he had signed in a state of incompletion a decade earlier). In 2010-2011, Ericsson took pictures of his wife Rose lying naked in water below a waterfall in a wooded ravine near their home in Ohio. The series was based on Duchamp’s Étant donnés, which, he pointed out in describing these works, was made by a man whose female alter ego was Rose Sélavy, which translates as “Eros is life.” - Francis M. I’m pleased to be participating in a fundraiser to support @cpca.studio

The print sale supports the re-opening of The Center for Print and Collaborative Arts, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Columbus, Ohio. CPCA is run by artists and local community members. CPCA supports artists across disciplines through affordable studio access, exhibitions, and public programs. After a year of construction, permitting delays, and all the invisible layers of building a public arts space, CPCA is in the home stretch. Funds from this sale will help CPCA complete the last phase of construction.

Art in Nature: Rowdy Meadow Sculpture Park

Reto Thüring, with a foreword by William M. Griswold and Emily Liebert

An exclusive invitation to explore an extraordinary private sculpture park

Set on a 150-acre property of former apple orchards, steep woodlands, meadows, and ravines just east of Cleveland, Ohio, Rowdy Meadow is the visionary sculpture park commissioned by American arts patron Scott Mueller. Visitors traversing its extensive network of trails will discover an extraordinary collection of more than sixty outdoor works by leading contemporary artists, including Andy Goldsworthy, Anish Kapoor, Ai Weiwei, James Turrell, Virginia Overton, Sol LeWitt, Elmgreen & Dragset, and Richard Serra.

Art in Nature welcomes readers to explore this special place through lush visuals and fascinating texts. Vivid color photography captures the striking dialogue between Rowdy Meadow’s grounds, designed by innovative landscape architecture firm Reed Hildebrand, and the artwork, including site-specific commissions. More than forty specially commissioned interviews accompany the artists’ entries. These engaging texts provide new insight into the practices of some of the most exciting contemporary artists working today and contextualize their pieces at Rowdy Meadow.

Mueller’s world-class private collection will ultimately be bequeathed to the Cleveland Museum of Art. For now, Art in Nature is an exclusive all-access pass, allowing readers to experience its unique interplay between art and ecology. by @trericsson

Ever notice how every press release mentions how many solo shows an artist has had?

It’s not just context.

This week in Viewing Rooms, we talk through what that line is really telling you.

Two art advisors. One viewing room. Thinking out loud.

Have you ever wondered why every single exhibition press release mentions this detail?

The Sentence

A collective exhibition @commercestreetstudios Thank you @macloud9 and @johannesvdb

For The Sentence, participating artists engaged in an exquisite-corpse style writing process: each contributor added a fragment to what came before, ultimately producing a sprawling and unruly sentence part poem, part incantation. Each artist was then randomly assigned a single word from this collaboratively generated text, using it as the conceptual springboard for a new work.
