🎓✨ 348 #TrintiyDC #DeansList scholars. One packed Social Hall. So much to celebrate! 💜💛

On Thursday, October 1, our College of Arts & Sciences honored its 2025–2026 Dean's List scholars, joined by proud families, friends, faculty, advisors, and staff. 👏

Dr. Melissa Harris, Assistant Dean, reminded us what this achievement takes: “Some of these students are parents; some are employed full time and full time students.” 💪

Dean Sita Ramamurti told the scholars: “This academic achievement is about more than grades. It reflects the discipline to give your best, the responsibility to take your learning seriously, and the determination to keep growing. You have demonstrated all three qualities.” 🌟

Our guest speaker was Trinity alumna Danielle McLean (Classes of 2017 and 2018), who earned her bachelor's in Accounting and her MBA here. She is now Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the American Financial Services Association, and she made the Dean's List twice herself! 🙌 Coming back to campus felt “very full circle,” she said. Her message to our scholars: “Keep showing up.” 💜

Congratulations, scholars. We celebrate you and we are proud of you! 🎉

The @WashingtonianMag Names #TrinityDC President Patricia McGuire One of Washington's Most Powerful Women of 2026

President McGuire is one of 10 leaders honored in the education category of Washingtonian's list of women shaping government, business, the arts, law, media, and nonprofits.

Trinity Washington University President Patricia McGuire has been named to Washingtonian’s 2026 list of the Most Powerful Women in Washington. The list, published online September 30 and featured in the magazine’s October issue, honors 300 leaders shaping government, business, education, media, and nonprofits across the region. President McGuire is featured in the Education Powers category as one of 10 education leaders.

“Trinity educates powerful women for a wide range of professional and civic leadership roles,” said President Patricia McGuire. “I am honored to be on the Washingtonian list as the representative of thousands of powerful Trinity Women!”

With McGuire at the helm, Trinity has distinguished itself among historically Catholic women's colleges as an innovative, future-focused institution. Today, Trinity is a Predominantly Black Institution and a Hispanic-Serving Institution, and its example of adapting to serve the students who need a college education most is one that other universities look to. Trinity has also drawn recognition for its emphasis on undergraduate research, including student publications and conference presentations, including recently by the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minoritized Students (ABRCMS), which the university highlights and celebrates as part of its academic culture. by @trinitywashingtonuniversity

Shhhh... Don’t tell anyone about these books: the #TrinityDC library has set up a display of banned books for #BannedBooksWeek. We definitely don’t recommend you go check it out, and read these banned books!

What is Banned Books Week?

Banned Books Week, launched in 1982, brings together the entire book community and is typically held in the last week of September or the first week of October. This year's observance runs October 4-10, under the theme "Let Books Be. Protect the Freedom to Read."

The week was started in response to a surge in challenges to books in libraries, bookstores, and schools, and it highlights the value of open access to information. The American Library Association documented 487 attempts to censor books at libraries, schools, and universities in 2025, involving 4,235 unique titles.

Trinity celebrates Banned Books week every year by shining a light on books that have been recently or frequently banned, and asking why they have been banned, and why it's important to be aware of the many ways that First Amendment freedoms are endangered by book banning.

Come on down to the Sheehan Library and check out a Banned Book this week! taken in Trinity Washington University by @trinitywashingtonuniversity
