⚡️Midnight Lightning v8/7B+ ✅

Standing on where generations of climbers stood was so surreal. This climb is everything I could’ve wished for.

Huge thank you to the new friends I met in Camp 4 you guys truly gave me the stoke to keep pushing after long days swimming in the river and exploring the valley I cannot express my gratitude enough I hope we meet again someday soon.

So incredibly psyched to be joining the Arc’teryx Pasadena team as their store ambassador! Catch me at events all around SoCal this Fall :)

Climbing has genuinely changed every aspect of my life and I’m eternally grateful to the sport and the community that saw me evolve from the introverted kid playing video games all day into the person here today. If I haven’t seen you in a while, let’s climb! Keep crushing y’all!

Allegory of the Cave v12/8a+ ✅

Lots to say about this one, before these last two sessions I had completely written off even going back to this climb. I packed up my stuff and told myself I couldn’t drop 10 more sessions just to get back to where I was. There were so many weeks last Spring where I would have a session, blow up all my skin, rest for two days just to start the hike all over again.

Last year I wasn’t only battling learning the moves but I also had a deadline, Summer was coming fast and I needed to finish before it got too warm at Black.

Dropping the match last season sent me spiraling and that walk back down to my car ate me alive. Maybe it was the pressure of feeling the need to finish in time, maybe it was the frustration of putting so much time and energy into something I felt so passionate about. I felt owed a send, after all I was showing up right? After 10 sessions climbing didn’t feel like this fun hobby that I enjoyed, it became like a job. I would clock in for my shift at the boulder and clock out when my mental and physical state were battered. Needless to say it was my time to step away from the boulder.

Flash forward to this season, I just wanted to see where I was, no expectations, no pressure, no time limit. Out of all the sessions at Allegory I think I can still count on two hands how many times I’ve landed that crux throw move. First session this season I got really close to sticking the move and landed it once. Coming back five days later was enough to remember how to do the move and I was so over the moon topping out. I don’t think I’ve ever had a bigger grin on my face.

There’s a lot I’m going to miss about this climb. If you ever find yourself out in the Republic take it all in it’s one of the most beautiful areas I’ve ever been to. Like a mini Yosemite or Squamish tucked away in our mountains at home.

Things I will not miss — the rattlesnakes rattling from the corner of the cave and sneaking up on me while I sat on the floor. The mosquitoes eating me alive. The monster ants that look like they’ll happily steal your entire picnic basket. My legs being so fried from the hike.
