Last month I was honored to receive an invitation from VP @kamalaharris and Second Gentleman @douglasemhoff to attend a Holiday reception at the Vice President residence in Washington DC. I seem to be on a “List” after meeting the @vp back in March, and how I continue to remain on this List, I’m not too sure! My invite had a plus 1, and of course I wanted to share this experience with @rons1ne, who I *ahem* continue to remind of being my +1 at the VP’s event 😜~ the most honorable of honorable events I’ll likely ever attend in my lifetime 🙏🏽.

The cocktail party was pretty amazing and it was surreal walking through the VP estate. We learned that this event was specifically for Madam VP’s friends in Cali, about 200 of us from out west~ her close friends growing up, CSU Chancellor & Presidents, CA political leaders & business leaders, and close supporters who have all shared a space with Madam VP around the way and continue to follow her along on her journey 👊🏽.

VP Harris took the time to have a photo-op with all of us, where I shared with her that we had met at an AAPI roundtable for our business in SF’s Chinatown.
To my surprise, Madam VP looked at me and replied,
“I remember you!” I was speechless 😳. Did the Vice President of the United States really say she remembered me?? 🤯 I will choose to believe that there is an ever-so-slight chance that Madam VP actually remembers me… after all I have made my way onto “The List” 🙌🏽.

Being on the Veep’s List has carried me into spaces that I never imagined I’d be in and hands down this Holiday reception tops the list! I’m so honored to have met VP Harris time and time again, President Biden at the White House, and for these surreal opportunities that would not be possible if not for our Small Business and what started as an ambitious goal of wanting to open up a cool shop in what I’ll always believe is the greatest city in the world 🌉.

Thank you friends for following along on our journey and continuing to support @asmblyhall! Cheers to the new year and to more amazing experiences in 2024👌🏽.

Finally getting around to sharing my visit to The @whitehouse 🇺🇸. On Monday March 27th, 2023 I was invited to The White House for my business @asmblyhall, an invitation from President Joe Biden sent to a select number of successful & resilient female small business owners & influential business leaders across the country, in celebration of Women’s History Month.

I was still on a high after our AAPI round table with @vp @kamalaharris a few weeks prior! Just as it was meeting the VP, meeting @potus at @whitehouse was an even crazier surreal experience. I walked around the East Wing of The WH and felt the history of our country. I stood outside @potus office & the Oval Office thinking of all the big issues that have been discussed right in there. I took a step up the residence quarters imagining young Sasha & Malia running up & down the stairs. Captivated by original paintings of Presidents & First Ladies, wandering through the library with books that have likely been there for centuries, and the elegance of the Jackie O bathroom- what an experience. My favorite souvenir was from Jackie’s bathroom- thick, crisp white napkins with the official White House seal stamped in gold, of course I snagged extras!

After wandering thru the East Wing, we had the privilege of listening to President Biden speak and thank all of us- FEMALE small business owners, for what we do for the economy, the job market, the country 🇺🇸. He spoke to us for 30 minutes, expressing that small business owners are the engine of our economy, the glue to the heart & soul of our communities, 12 million female small busn owners in the country which account for 40% of the nations GDP. I am so proud to be a part of this number!

In the end I had the opportunity to shake President Biden’s hand. Sadly no footage as I respectfully put my phone away as we shook hands😔. Also had the pleasure of meeting @spanx founder @sarablakely, we even shared a moment in the Jackie O bathroom where she said- “you look great!”

I’m so honored to have had this opportunity! Its moments like this that make our hustle over the last 12 yrs as small biz owners all worth it in the end!

Happy Filipino American History Month Friends 🇵🇭✌🏽😉! Bringing our Filipino flavor to Harlow’s school @sanfranciscodayschool in honor of FAHM 🇵🇭☀️.
~~~ This one was extra special because I got to display my mom’s piña outfit, along with Harlow’s piña gown from her Christening that my mom had made for her. So grateful that our school makes space for us to share our Filipino culture and traditions with our community. ❤️
Harlow’s first NQS competition of her skating career ⛸️✨! So proud of @harlowsloaneb for taking on the challenge and pushing through those nerves! She stepped up, gave it her all, and was still all smiles afterward 😁.
We close out this season after a big one of transition and growth~ new rinks, new coaches, new skate friends, and lots of learning along the way 💕.. So grateful to Coach Josh @shua80 for all of his support of Harlow this season 🙏. We’re so proud of how far she’s come and excited for everything ahead ❤️.
On to the next level… Could this be the year of the 🐶🐾?! and oh boy Triples, we’ve got our eye on you…
6th grade!!! 🥹✨ @harlowsloaneb A Middle schooler now… whaa?!
Same school @sanfranciscodayschool, but a new world~ an extra 30 minutes to the school day, switching classes, choosing a foreign language, picking up a wind instrument 🪈🎶, and officially becoming one of the “big kids” on campus. 🥲
Excited to see our KPop lover (@cortis concert tee just had to be on the first day 🙌) grow into this next chapter 💕.. Here’s to an amazing 6th grade! 🫶🏼📚✨
An amazing comp for @harlowsloaneb last weekend and a new Personal Best Score ⛸️✨! Hands down, one of the best programs she’s ever skated ❤️. Killed her jumps and elements, skated BIG with so much confidence, speed, and power, and the icing on the cake~ this medal, for all the hard work she’s poured into this program!🏅💕🙌
What makes us the proudest is seeing how far Harlow has come this season. She’s been putting in the work all summer—training 2x a day, different rinks, new coaches—and the progress is really showing! We are so proud of how much she’s grown, both as a skater and in her confidence.
So grateful to all her coaches who have supported and encouraged her through the last few months! 🙏❤️⛸️
So proud of my girl — a Personal Best score yesterday and she’s feeling better than ever 🙌❤️
Fewer competitions this season to focus on skating—new rinks, new coaches, new skate friends, and most importantly, giving Harlow the space to reset and find her confidence again.
This weekend, she stepped back into comp mode for her second event of the season—her first with Coach Josh @shua80 who has been so instrumental in helping Harlow settle back into a good rhythm with skating. Her nerves were the calmest we’ve ever seen, she felt confident, and skated her program nice and strong from start to finish 👏.
Through all the changes this season, Harlow kept showing up, kept working, and kept finding her way back to the skater she loves being… And that is the biggest win of all. ⛸️✨
Teamwork definitely makes the dream work ❤️
“National Theatre on Ice Silver Medalist winners” for @harlowsloaneb and her SF Ice Theatre team 🥈~ out of a record-breaking 19 teams👏. What an incredible way to finish the season after months of hard work, commitment, and heart from every single skater ✨💕.
We’ve learned that figure skating can be an isolating, individual sport, which is why this Ice Theatre team has been such a gift for Harlow 🙏. She absolutely loves her SFIT teammates and looks forward to every practice just to be with them. Watching those friendships grow- from rink days and out of town performances to an unforgettable week together at Nationals, has been one of the best parts of this season 🥰. The friendships she’s formed and memories they’ve made together are something she’ll carry with her forever 🌈…And Bravo to that amazing teamwork 💫~ from the beginning of the season to the very last second of that heart-stopping performance, a well-deserved W 🥳👏!
And to my fellow SFIT moms & dads🥰~ I am already going thru withdrawals of our weekly Starbucks dates, rink chats, costume-making dates, cheers, tears and edge-of-our-seats wins 🙌… you’ve made this journey just as special for me ❤️! @korihayashi @knakahara5
