We are thrilled to welcome TRIYBE CIC as a key community contributor at this year’s Every Little Thing Festival!

TRIYBE is a Black heritage-led CIC working across Transformation, Resilience, Inspiration, Younity, Belonging, and Empowerment. Their projects break ground across mental health, identity, creative arts, and even STEM, exploring the deep connection between hair, heritage, and science.

26 DAYS TO GO — AND READING, YOU’VE BEEN AMAZING! 🎭💙

It was a pleasure to attend the Community Award Ceremony at the Caribbean Heritage Centre in Reading, where so many inspiring individuals and community leaders were honoured for their contribution to the community. 💚

It was wonderful to meet some new faces, reconnect with some familiar ones, including Tyler from @triybe_ who won an award, and share the room with people who are making a real difference across Reading and beyond. Lovely also to meet @juliatitus_official whose vocals can be heard in the background!

The support we have received from the Reading community for Barbershop Uncut Stories has been incredible - thank you to everyone who has booked, shared our posts, spread the word and helped us reach local communities.

Barbershop Uncut Stories creates a space to open up conversations that matter, using theatre and real experiences.

Black men face around twice the risk of developing prostate cancer compared with other men, making awareness, knowing the signs and symptoms, and taking action. especially important.

🎭 We are now down to the last few tickets for 16 October, so if you haven’t booked yet, please don’t wait!

From community voices to national research this is what change looks like.

Triybe was proud to be one of six organisations selected to take part in the Community Led Research Pilot with the British Science Association, exploring the health, identity, and lived experiences connected to Black hair and product use.

Our Lab Workshops continue this work bringing science, culture, and community together to raise awareness and support healthier choices.

This conversation is happening in the U.S. — but the same questions matter here in the UK.

Research has raised concerns about chemicals in some hair and beauty products and the long-term health impacts of frequent use. While regulations differ, many of the same products are used across our communities here in the UK.

At Triybe, we are exploring this issue through community research, education, and raising awareness about product safety and informed choices.

This is about protecting our communities and future generations.

Community Science Matters 🧪✊🏾
Today marks the final day of British Science Week, and here at TRIYBE we want to highlight why science must include and represent our communities.

For years, many hair and beauty products marketed to Black communities have contained chemicals that we are only now beginning to question and research more deeply. Conversations are growing around the links between certain ingredients and health concerns affecting Black women, including hormonal disruption and fibroids.

That’s why TRIYBE is launching community lab workshops, working alongside scientists and researchers to examine products, ask real questions, and empower our communities with knowledge.

Science should not only happen in laboratories — it should happen with the community, for the community.
