today is Trudy’s first bday ✨✨✨
i launched her a year ago may 9 2023
oh wow was i so terrified of sharing her with the world
she came to me after a period of grief & great redirection {thank you saturn)

Trudy is more than a handbag she represents boldness, freedom, expression, empowerment, individuality. she represents staying true to yourself

she’s a combination of all my favorite things
patterns, colors, textiles, textures, upholstery, my grandmothers couch, style, dressing up, sewing, San Francisco<3

bringing these handbags into the world has brought so much strength and joy to my life and I hope they bring you the wearer a similar empowerment and embellishment to yours

she’s my wildest dreams and she’s cracked me open to alllllllll the endless possibilities that life can hold if you just stay true to yourself and to the things that bring you joy

happy birthday Trudy, thank you for the ways you have healed me, thank you for bringing me strength & joy

she’s eclectic beyond compare

for weeks i couldn’t tell if she was absolutely hideous or the most beautiful & magical thing i’d ever seen
(i think that’s when you know you have something special)
made from 1960’s curtain fabric from San Francisco

come try her on this weekend at the @westcoastcraft waves (first ever) vintage show
i truly can’t wait to meet the owner of this handbag

took the lil red bag to nyc

dreamy lil train rides + fabric shopping + other city musings

many ppl stopped to compliment the lil red bag & it felt like a sweet lil manifestation & sign to bring these bags to a nyc market sooooon I hope ✨

I have a very small amt of yardage in this fabric so i’ll only make a few of these pocket sized handbags.
I paired with the most perfect lil polka dot trim. inside is full of polka dots too.

took this lil cutie handbag out & around town to the fillmore jazz festival on sunday

1970’s victorian french upholstery
the perfect dusty slate blue & aqua
damask & rose detailing

I paired her with a navy & white houndstooth bias trim
not pictured but the inside of the bag is full of surprises too. lined in a baby blue floral silk that I found while I was in tokyo

this fabric is quite rare & one of my favorite fabrics i’ve ever cut into.
she hung over the back of my closet door for quite sometime until the moment struck.
that’s usually how it goes with these vintage fabrics.
bringing her to life with my sewing machine was pure joy, as always.

this fabric has been one of my favorites lately & i’ve been loving watching who is drawn to her

I found this deadstock roll down in LA at one of my favorite lil upholstery shops where I often go to dig for fabric
at first I brought home just a few yards & then every time I went back to LA I would pick up a few more
finally, the last time I was in LA I told Sam my fabric guy i’ll take everything you have
cause she’s that special & anytime I bring her to a market she is always snatched up quickly:)
