❤️ Because of YOU, We Made It Happen! 🙏🏽

I’ve been very busy behind the scenes preparing for some very important steps forward.

Today, I’m happy to finally share some GOOD NEWS! 😊

WE DID IT! I WAS ABLE TO RETAIN AN ATTORNEY!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of family, friends, former teammates, and everyone who donated, shared my GoFundMe, or helped spread the word, I was able to secure an attorney I truly believe is the right person to represent me!

This was one of the biggest obstacles I was facing, and because of YOU, we overcame it. I can’t express how much that means to me and my boys. ❤️

Since my last update, I’ve spent countless hours organizing evidence, preparing documents, and getting my attorney everything needed to move forward.

Today brought another small but meaningful victory. We’re moving closer to the final hearing, and progress has been made toward retrieving our belongings from our previous home. That means another step toward having everything ready for my boys when we’re able to spend more time together.

For the first time in a while, I feel like some of the pieces are finally coming together.

There’s still work to be done, and I know nothing is guaranteed, but I’m optimistic about what’s ahead and grateful to finally have experienced legal representation beside me.

This journey has taught me a lot about faith, perseverance, and the incredible people who show up when you need them most.

To everyone who has helped financially, offered advice, made phone calls, connected me with resources, or simply checked in on me, please know that your kindness has made a real difference.

My boys may not understand everything happening right now, but one day I hope they’ll understand just how many people cared enough to help their dad through this.

I’m not at the finish line yet, but today I’m celebrating the progress we’ve made together.

From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU! ❤️

God is good. 🙏🏽

One step closer to having my boys back in my everyday life. 😊 P.S. Matias was sick!! lol

It’s been a month since my last update, and so much has happened.

First, THANK YOU to everyone who has donated, shared my GoFundMe, offered advice, or kept my boys and me in your prayers. Your support has helped carry me through one of the hardest times of my life.

It’s been almost two months without normal parenting time with my boys. No regular mornings, bedtime routines, or the little moments that mean everything to a father.

I’ve continued representing myself in court, and there has been progress. The court granted me weekday FaceTime calls, and I can see my boys at their sporting events. Although I’m usually working while they’re playing, I cherish every second I get with them.

The hardest part is hearing them ask when they’ll be with Daddy again and not having an answer.

My goal remains 50/50 parenting time, just as we had before these proceedings.

I’ve continued rebuilding stability, securing a temporary residence, getting my dogs back, following court orders, and preparing for my upcoming hearing.

❤️ Because of YOU, we’ve raised $5,500!

My next major hearing is October 14, and I have an opportunity to retain an attorney. The initial retainer is $8,500, meaning we’re just $3,000 away!

The attorney has asked me to secure what I can ASAP so preparation can begin. Our overall GoFundMe goal remains $15,000 due to the ongoing legal matters, but reaching $8,500 is the immediate priority.

I’m not asking anyone to take sides. I simply want the opportunity to have the facts properly presented and continue pursuing my relationship with my children.

My faith in God has remained strong throughout this journey. I believe He continues to guide me, even through the hardest moments.

To everyone who has supported us financially, emotionally, or spiritually, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.

I’m not giving up. These boys are my world, and being their father will always be my greatest blessing.

🙏🏽 If you can donate or share, please help us reach this milestone before October 14.

❤️ I love you, boys. Always.

⚡ SPEED TIP!!!

One of the best examples I can give my athletes is myself.

Early in my career I transitioned from wide receiver to tight end. I knew I needed to get bigger and stronger to play the position — but I wasn’t willing to sacrifice my speed.

I added roughly 15–20 pounds of muscle while taking my 40 from around the 4.6s into the 4.4s.

How?

I didn’t just lift weights and hope I stayed fast.

I trained to be fast.

⚡ Sprinting at full speed
⚡ Acceleration work
⚡ Explosive strength & power
⚡ Proper sprint mechanics
⚡ Quality reps with enough recovery

One thing I teach young athletes today:

Getting stronger should complement your speed—not replace speed training.

If you want to run fast, you have to practice running fast.

Speed is a skill. Train it like one. 💯⚡

Save this for your training and follow for more speed tips.

MONDAY MOTIVATION ⚡

You can’t always control what happens to you.
You CAN control how you respond.

This picture was taken with the first NFL team that ever gave me an opportunity.

I was the hometown kid. People around Cincinnati were excited for me, my name was getting talked about, and I was confident I was going to make the team.

Then I got cut.

I’m not going to act like it didn’t affect me. It did. I was disappointed, frustrated, and for a while it really got me down.

But eventually I had a decision to make:

Was I going to let that setback break me, or was I going to respond?

I knew I lacked experience. I knew there were things in my game that needed to improve. So instead of feeling sorry for myself, my mindset changed.

I decided I was going to outwork everybody I could.

Get stronger.
Get faster.
Learn the position.
Become more coachable.
Keep showing up.

Looking back, getting cut wasn’t the end of my professional journey.

It was the beginning of it.

That experience taught me something I try to pass on to every young athlete I coach today:

A setback doesn’t have to decide your future. Your response to it can.

Didn’t make the team? Respond.
Had a bad game? Respond.
Coach corrected you? Respond.
Things didn’t go the way you expected? Respond.

Learn from it. Adjust. Get back to work.

Sometimes the moment that feels like the end is really where your journey begins. 💯🏈

Parents & coaches: How do you teach your athletes to handle setbacks? 👇🏾

SUNDAY SPOTLIGHT 🙏🏾

“The trial isn’t always there to break you. Sometimes God is using it to build you.”

This week has been a true test of patience, faith and understanding for me.

It’s easy to trust God when everything is going the way we want. The real test comes when life gets uncomfortable, when we don’t understand why something is happening, or when the outcome is outside of our control.

James 1:2–4 reminds us that the testing of our faith produces perseverance.

Looking at this picture reminds me how much life comes full circle. Standing with my boys and someone who coached and mentored me when I was young reminds me that who we become is shaped over time — by the people God puts in our lives, the lessons we learn, and even the trials we have to walk through.

I’m learning that the trials and tribulations we face today can help shape us into the people God is calling us to become.

More patient.
More understanding.
More forgiving.
More disciplined.
More faithful.

Jesus never promised us a life without difficulty. What matters is who we become while walking through it.

So whatever season you’re in right now:

Learn from it. Grow through it. Pray through it. Trust God through it. 🙏🏾

What is God teaching you in this season of your life? 👇🏾

FRIDAY TRAINING 🔥

Training is about more than one drill, one workout or one skill.

We work on speed, agility, strength, technique and confidence — while teaching athletes how to compete, stay coachable and trust the process.

Every athlete is different. The goal is to find where they are now and help them take the next step in their development.

🏈 PRO LESSON THURSDAY

“One workout changed the direction of my football career.” In 2017, I went to the NFL Veteran Combine looking for another opportunity.

That opportunity ended up opening multiple doors for me.

But here’s what I want young athletes to understand:

The opportunity didn’t prepare me. I had to be prepared before the opportunity showed up.

You never know which practice, camp, tryout, game or conversation is going to open your next door.

That’s why the work you do when nobody’s watching matters.

Don’t wait for your opportunity to start preparing for it.

Prepare now—so when your opportunity comes, you’re ready. 🏈⚡ #nflveterancombine #nfl #stayready #opportunities by @trues8590

⭐️ ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT: ELLA ⭐️

🏈 Age: 10
🚩 Sport: Flag Football
⚡ Focus: Speed + Confidence

Ella brings great effort and energy to every session and is extremely coachable. We’ve been working on developing her speed while also building the confidence to trust herself and her abilities on the field.

One of my favorite parts of coaching young athletes is watching the mental growth happen alongside the physical growth. Getting faster is great — believing you’re faster matters too.

I’m proud of the improvements Ella has made during our time together, and I’m excited to see her continue to develop.

Keep working, Ella! 💪🏾⚡🏈

⚡ SPEED TIP TUESDAY

Want a simple way to work on acceleration? Find a hill. 🏃🏾‍♂️💨

Hill sprints are one of my favorite ways to introduce young athletes to speed training.

Running uphill naturally adds resistance and encourages athletes to:

⚡ Drive through the ground
⚡ Stay forward during acceleration
⚡ Pump their arms
⚡ Get their knees up and work on knee drive
⚡ Develop power while accelerating

And the best part? You don’t need fancy equipment.

Find a good hill, keep the distances short, give plenty of recovery between reps, and focus on quality over quantity.

My boys are learning early! 💪🏾

Young athlete or adult — find a hill and get to work.

And if you know anything about Jerry Rice’s hill workouts, you already know. 👀🏾🏈

Save this one for your next speed workout. ⚡

MONDAY MOTIVATION ⚡

One thing sports taught me at every level: talent will only take you so far.

The athletes who keep showing up, stay coachable, compete, and put the work in when nobody is watching are the ones who give themselves a chance to separate.

For the young athletes starting a new week — don’t worry about being perfect. Find one thing you can get better at today and attack it.

You can control your effort.
You can control your attitude.
You can control whether you show up ready to work.

Small improvements, repeated consistently, become big results.

Get 1% better today. ⚡

Parents & coaches: What’s one lesson you’re trying to teach your athlete right now? 👇🏾

SUNDAY SPOTLIGHT ✝️

“Train up a child in the way he should go…”
— Proverbs 22:6

Training a young athlete is about more than getting faster, stronger, or better at their sport.

It’s teaching them how to work when nobody is watching.
How to respond when things don’t go their way.
How to be a good teammate.
How to believe in themselves.
How to lead with character.

The lessons we teach kids today can stay with them long after the game is over.

THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE 🎯

Do something this week to encourage, teach, or positively impact a young person — and make it something that has nothing to do with the scoreboard.

👇🏾 Come back and comment what you did. I’d love to hear how parents, coaches, and mentors are making an impact. Tag a parent, coach, teacher, or mentor who is making a positive impact on a young person. 🙏🏾

Develop the athlete. Build the person.
