This post is only and only for my students. 🤍

I taught Ballet for 8 years at The School of Classical Ballet and Western Dance. When I took up the job back in 2018, I only had one thing in mind — to teach Ballet, of course.

Under the mentorship of Khooshoo, I learnt my RAD Ballet and ISTD Modern syllabus, and my thought process was simply about teaching the kids.

But today, as I stepped out and bid farewell to my kids — my students — I realised the impact I had on them.

It was never just about teaching the syllabus. It was about how you treat them, how safe you make them feel in class, and how you make them feel “seen.”

Unknowingly, there are so many other responsibilities you hold as a teacher. They truly look up to you in a certain way because they see you as their inspiration.

I am extremely overwhelmed with the love they showered on me. The handwritten letters brought tears to my eyes. My heart feels so full today because, in some way or another, I feel I impacted their lives positively — making them love Ballet, feel inspired, and always want to show up to class.

It is such a give-and-take relationship that we hardly realise. Over the years, there were so many incidents where I learnt so much from my students — even if that child was just 5 years old. Teaching helped me keep my ego aside and truly imbibe the positivity and life lessons taught to me by my little students.

And this is something I will always carry forward with me.

8 years of learning, teaching, inspiring my kids, and getting inspired by them...

The journey definitely continues. ✨

It was an immense pleasure attending Priya akka’s workshop. It was truly insightful and inspiring to learn abhinaya from you, akka. ( @priyadarsinigovind )

The step-by-step approach to abhinaya was something I had never imagined before. I came as a blank slate, and whatever you shared has been deeply etched within me.

Those five days truly felt like a gurukul abhyaas.
